    Piss off :P

I wasn't going to keep it updated as a build thread, I struggle to keep the other one updated as it is. Was more of an introduction

Oh and I have a theory as to why your car has more bark than mine. Could it be that my engine bay is still sealed where yours is very much open?

Just thought I'd throw up some more up to date pictures. You may have even seen it at Trax...

    Engine bay:

    Car:

Maybe not to everyone's tastes but it only cost me £35 for the bonnet, roof and boot. If I want to take it of then it won't be a problem. Just fancied something a bit different as so many people have gone for the Nurburg decal.

    Lol, yup, something like that

Goes to a modified catch tank. The standard breathers were tiny and not in a very good place, meant pipes running across the engine bay...

    How is yours different?

Thanks, yeah tis a shame. When it's done I want to have a good nose round lol

Ahh right yup. I had those blanked off and the new one tapped off the left hand side They're fine in the standard place I guess on the standard engine when they're blowing back into the inlet but with the throttle bodies it's just awkward to run pipes across...

Thanks Lee, took me over 15 hours! The Steve's @ T'n'R didn't like the Orange wheels when I had them, I dread to think how this will go down on my next visit, lol.

I know but not that much difference is there? I didn't mind losing a tiny bit of bhp for peace of mind. I was going to run a cold air feed from the front as well. Do you not run filters on yours?

no socks like those can sap a fair bit as they interfere with the bell mouth on the trumpet, i run a filter but its an itg dome jobbie, which gives the trumpet bells sufficient room, but obviously space is an issue, do a back to back next time you're at t&r and you'll see what you're losing i guess, but yeah, take your flame proof jacket for surelmao but i like em

    Oh really? Hmm....

Yeah I have got a Pipercross dome jobbie in the garage but there just isn't the room to fit it. Maybe if I get a smaller alternator it will free up enough space. Warren keeps telling me to cut the bulk head out but I'm not interested, lol.

Lol, thanks. I'll use that in my defence when Andy's going into one "but... but..... Lee likes it" lol

i'm not sure it will help with Pitcher, Greenald maybe as he secretly still wants to be down with the kidslmao what trumpet length do you run? have seen dome filters on a corsa but only with 45mm trumpets, you want 90s ideally, bulkhead out is the only way really but if you dont want to do that...

Re: My 1.8 (z18xe) Corsa C on Jenvey throttle bodies

    lmao

60mm trumpets, I did originally have 40mm but after finding out the filter wouldn't fit anyway I thought why not go for longer if they fit, lol. It's not the length that stops me putting the dome on, it's the backplate on the alternator

Also, when you say on a Corsa, I'm guessing you mean on a B right? If so they have more room than me to start with anyway

Well I didn't want to start hacking holes in the bulkhead as it would lose the seal, meaning a heavy downpour or just cleaning the car would fill the engine bay with water :\ Then there's the structural implications....

The other thing I did toy with the idea of was having some custom trumpets made up that maybe curved up. Do you think that would work/help?

mm, yes and no, as it will slow the air down a touch too, i'm sure you could make rom and keep a seal somehow...

Re: My 1.8 (z18xe) Corsa C on Jenvey throttle bodies

I think my best option currently would be to either get a smaller motorsport type alternator or just try and move it altogether

I'll have to add it onto the list after the cams I have on order and possibly a full cage

In fact I might try and figure something out for when I'm taking the air con out as I'll be making space/needing a new belt anyway. In fact.... I wonder if it could just move to where the air con unit currently is...

get a tiny denso one, or just drop the stock one down a touch easy enough to do, plate with four holes in it basically, two for the alternator, two above them to bolt to the block in the original holes, gets done alot on carb'd cars, you can normally go down a good 40mm but with a smaller one you can get alot more room

Yeah it already has been moved back once, not sure how much room there is to move it back/down any further. Worth a look though. And yes possibly a new smaller alternator.

i ended up getting a denso alternator off a circa 2000 daihatsu cuore for £15.. have pics n details if you need them.
I used SBD's mounting kit , near £70 tho.. hehe.
Worth it tho - it rid of the o.e tensioner for me.

whats the gen on the cams...???

Well you've acheived pretty much the exact figure I was aiming for with the engine on throttle bodies so I'll still listen lmao

Ooooh nice one, yeah the thing with the alternators that worried me was the cost, I didn't think to get it from somehting else. Would love any pics and details you have to share. Is it much smaller than the OE one?

Edit: Oh sorry I missed your question about the cams, I'm not sure off the top of my head but I'll have a look and let you know

For Peester, the spec of the Shricks cams are as follows:

    Lift: 10.2mm
    Duration/Exhaust peak timing: 256/110
    Valve timing: 18-58 58-18
    Valve lift at TDC: 0.9/1.0

Not hugely different to what's already in there but more lift, which I'm told is what these egines respond well too...
