Re: Ronnie's New Family Car - Cavalier GSI :)

todays progress was machine polishing, still buzzzzzzzzzzzzing now typing this lol

lee had done the two doors yesterday

oh and got a couple of shots of the caddy for drizz as it was uncovered for a min

    started on the roof

    started green topping it

    and finessed

plenty good enough for a family run around

then carried on with the rest of the car

    bling

not sure how many people are gonna beleive me when i tell them it had a full restoration and respray in the back of a old chicken shed lmao lmao

my origional plan was to put the origional black side moulding back on, but i am really liking the modern look of everything colour coded and smooth down the sides, so think i will leaqve them off now....

but not sure what to do about the bumpers? do i keep the tops black? or colourcode the whole thing, or will this be just a wash of colour with no defining lines.. hmmmmm....... anyone got any pics of fully colour coded gsi's?

will go get the tyres put on tomorrow morning, then finins the fitting up, scuttle panel, wipers, splashguards, and just going to stick my old bumpers on for now so i can get it down to for a mot as i need it on the road asap so i can strip the estate, hoping for a mot by weds

Keep the tops black and put the bump strips on IMO. Break up the colour a bit. That paint looks lovely!

    Paint looks frigging beautiful.

Keep the grey plastic as said it brakes the colour up. Maybe paint them in a dark grey..

I would think the side trims would look better and protect the sides from those dozy drivers that like to swing there door open in car parks no matter what is beside them.

It looks great by the way, cant wait to see it all together.

I'm with adding the side strips, will break up the colour. Looks awesome though.

Re: Ronnie's New Family Car - Cavalier GSI :)

cheers lads, yea i think if i colour code the bumpers fully it will be too much wash for the 90s cav style, still undecided on the bump strips, gonna leave them off for starters and see what i think and go from there

    todays progress

scuttle panel wipers headlights grille etc

then went and got my tyres fitted, i am going to miss having the estate, so usefull

then hit a problem, the fuel pipe between the pump and tank had fatiged and was sucking through air so had to get the tank back off

then fitted new track rod ends and bled the brakes again, fitted the splash guards back in

then started on the exhaust, the outlet is in a different place on my back box to the one the new tailpipes came off, so hard to start trimming the bumper a little

and just putting my old bumpers on for now while the new ones i got are painted, as need it on the road asap

tomorrows plan is to weld on the ehxaust tail pipes, fir rear splash guards and off to the mot

    nearly done

Re: Ronnie's New Family Car - Cavalier GSI :)

    todays progress

    tacked the exhaust on

then slid the bumper off and welded it all the way round

and painted it as its not stainless welding and will rust

finished the last little bits, mirrors, washer jets, etc

and finally back on the wheels

any finally it saw daylight again, for a wash

    paint finish

    all clean

and the posing pics excuse the bumpers they will be painted soon and the panel gaps need to be sorted, theyve just been flung on for now, the doors are all over the place lmao

    new wheels and brakes

it was too late to get it down for the mot today, but its booked in first thing tomorrow morning

so it was put to bed back in my unit

    so im happy

wow. That looks awesome. You can really see how much better the new paint is with the old bumpers on. Top work as always. I hope the MOT man has nice things to say

:edit: Id be putting the clocks back to 0 miles too. It might as well be a brand new car

Excellent work chief, good to see one staying on the road rather than stripped and scrapped.
