Re: Mk3 van, (that was meant to stay std)....

Had a few hours spare today so took the chance to get some little jobs out the way, First up i wanted to put a support from the inlet manifold to the block & also from the turbo to the block just to help with the weight more so on the turbo side of things so the manifold ain't having to take all the weight, The supports need to be painted black but did not have the paint with me at the time so they will get done at a later date....

Next job was to sort out the pipe work from the turbo up to the AFM i was going to use a little filter on the rocker cover breather & get rid of the std black breather pipe that runs down to the std neck of the kkk case, But after being in a car with this done i was not to keen on the smell that comes back thru the air vents in to the car/van, so i made up using some old oil pick up pipe alittle pipe that the std breather pipe could fix too, The std breather pipe fitted a treat & only had to be cut around 5" shorter...

I'm awaiting for my exhaust flange to be cut then i can start the down pipe which i'm going to make up first, Then the screamer pipe will follow it down along side & cut back in under the sump or around that area, need to weld in lamba bung & wideband bung, Also made up alittle bracket for the hot start valve even tho i don't use it but keep it wired in so no eml comes on..

And thats about it for today folks.....

I got one mate thanks, its only a single holder but thats all i need as its only for oil pressure guage,

I'd be happy when it just gets down the strip never mind having to beat you lmao.

Re: Mk3 van, (that was meant to stay std)....

Had a few hours at the week end got my f28 back from having the 3 holes drilled & re tapped to suit bigger bolts, so first few jobs was to get mount/gear lever bracket all fixed up, Then the 2wd conversion plate was fitted along with 2 now seals, & thrust bearing, found that one of my coil over tops was spot on for tapping in the new shaft seals, I also cracked open the gearbox oil level plug as if was abit stiff save doing it when its in...

I then made a start on the old rear gsi beam that i had took off the rear discs as i'm going to use them on the van also kept the hand brake guides which i cut off the gsi beam so that i can weld them onto the van rear beam, & the anti roll bars i kept too..
Got done a lot sooner than i was planning so spent half hour on my old tail gate in which i'm trying to fit a nova gsi rear spoiler too, The spoiler needs to be cut & re joined as its to long & a bit of filler work needs to take place but its one of them jobs that i'm going to do as & when no rush really....

i fitted the two rear anti roll bars on my van too, did make a noticeable difference on roundabouts, didnt feel like the outer wheel was trying to fold under the van so much lmao

Rc was it a straight bolt up job or is there some modding to take place ?

To be fair my van corners like a mo fo its just when you get back onto a straight it dies lmaolmao good old gm engines...

On the rear discs rc they had little sensors on them do i just get rid of them as my van beam don't have the holes for them ???

on mine everything bolted to the van beam, holes were already there for both anti roll bars, and the discs hubs bolted straight on too, the hole was there for the little bracket for the handbrake cable too, all on the drum van beam.

wicked i know my van beam has the first bracket the one which the hand brake cable gos thru & also the brake pipe bolts & clips too, but my van beam did not have the other hand brake cable guide bracket hence why i cut it off & kept it to weld on,

2 things when you did yours did it makes the wheels sit out a little bit more, & did you use any type of brake bias valve to stop rear disc lock when hit hard ??

Wow, nice progress. Might be getting myself a white mk3 can soon too, going to do many similar things. Can you get some more pics of the interior up? I especially like that work.

yea when i fitted mine it did sit 5-10mm out each side compared to the drums, i had to roll my arches with discs but was fine with drums. and i didnt mess around with the bias or anything on mine and it was fine, i had 288s on the front. after a while i fitted a mk2 astra gte 16v non abs master cylinder, but didnt notice any difference, didnt have any problems with the rear locking up either way.

Re: Mk3 van, (that was meant to stay std)....

Well ill start off by saying hi & welcome back to, Err me lmao, Seems like yrs since last update, Well any ways lets begin Van is on the road now well tell a lie its off road at the moment due to a few changes and to be honest i think its been off the road more than its been on lmao,

Well this is the van as it stands at the moment,

A few minor things have been done to the out side first off the roof bars had to go they fixed through the water channel and every time we had rain it pissed in on the back end so they went and holes was blanked off using tiger seal & fingers crossed had no rain in yet, Next i got my self a set of khan 17" alloys had them powder coated black & fitted them, & also tinted my in sides of the front indicators,

Now upon fitting the c20let with a non std turbo setup the first problem i had was clutch, I used a xe lightweight fly wheel with f28 plate & xe pressure plate all seemed good at first but when turbo came onto boost the clutch spun its tits off, DOH so i had to change back to a pot type fly wheel with f28 clutch set up, Job done boosting fine, Next problem was oil light popped on & oil pressure gauge was reading low low lmao, Good job for me i never ran it much so off come the oil pump & i also give it another set of bearings while i was under there, Turns out the relief valve had got wedged in the end of the channel it slides up & down in, Another pump & all was fine again,

Right after running in took place the boost was wound up & then my next problem turned up, Not really knowing alot about turbo set ups i went for tubular manifold, ext wastegate, & tdo4e turbo (not 100%) it is, But anyways Here is the turbo set up & down pipe i was using,

At first it was fun but soon got very fed up of it it seemed like the engine had to be thrashed up to 3000rpm ish then turbo would kick in & all hell broke loose wheels spinning van being threw across the road, So i got fed up very soon plus not using right ecu set up i was in the melt down direction lmao, So after a long hard think about 10secs im going for the std kkk again, I used this set up on my corsa was quick & smooth which it what i like,
So first job was the take old turbo etc off when i fitted the engine, turbo etc it went in sweet but now rad ,fans etc etc are all in it was a problem so first job was to cut slam panel,

Now this made things so much better it ment rad, fans could all come out in one, I also got another slam panel & cut it about 2" longer each side & will re fix it with nuts & bolts for future use,

As you can see in the rad photo i had to use twin 8" fans with tdo4e set up due to it being so tight, with kkk back on i can now go back to 1 12" slim line fan,
Now due to fitting kkk this means i have to change a few things such as vacume pipes will need to go back to NO/COM on the apexi, down pipe will need modding, water pipes for turbo will need to be used again, kkk oil return pipe is needed, & std kkk AFM hose will be used for now,

So to start off kkk is fitted back onto head, along with std kkk AFM hose, also gave left hand side of bay a very quick clean, white & dirty hands was not a good idea bitch to keep clean,

Once that was on fitted a new gasket as i did not have one, treated the elbo to some heat exhaust paint, & change the apexi ports back over to NO/COM as im going back to an actuator -31,

Next up was to mod the down pipe back for kkk, so out come the grinder & welder im also running wideband so i had one lamba bung in the kkk elbow so just had to re weld one in the down pipe for the wideband lamba

Apart from that i am awaiting kkk water hoses & oil return pipe, 12" fan, & ive also sent rocker/cam cover for acid dip & freash colour of white as all the dirty hads its had on them has made them dirty white in colour lmao,

keep up the good work will be seeing you all soon,
