really liking this :P
No updates as it's in the garage sleeping. I moved it last night to get some winter wheels out of the garage for Ellies car. Connected the battery and it started first time.
No, the El Grate O sticker came off after Crail. Not stealth enough for me. lmao
Cheers. Wanna buy it? lmao
how much ? haha
I have some parts for the Corsa sat here.....
It is still alive. No MOT or Tax though.
Needs;
A patch in the spare wheel well as another drain plug has rotted out.
Erm that's it.
Before Crail (15th April) I want to I want to;
Get either the GTE wheels fitted or 15" sport steels with 195 45 15 tyres
Fit the XE poundage springs to the bilstein shocks I have here and fit them up front. Should save it being so bouncy.
Fit the Cobra subframes I bought and eventually get my Cobra seats fitted
Get at least a couple hundred miles on it as a lame attempt at a post winter shakedown
plans sound good! the billies and proper springs will transform it!
I think you should just sell it to me, Im only along the road aswell....
A couple of pics of the parts to fit.
The new electricals are TPS, Fan switch and temp sensor IIRC.
Billies will need a clean up, the keech PI springs removed then the XE poundage springs fitted.
Corsa MOT - Passed. 2 advisories - "Slightly corroded rear brake pipes"
Corsa Tax - Bought (grudgingly)
Corsa coilivers - Removed. XE poundage springs and Bilstein shocks fitted.
Just need some dry weather to go out and give it a shakedown pre Crail. The front tyres dont seem to like wet roads so it spings quite a bit.
Had a 50p / 5p moment though on the way into work though…….
MOT was booked into a place just across from work.
About 15 minutes from work I'm about 1000yds from a roundabout at about 80ish I noticed that the traffic fuzz were behind me. I pulled into the slow lane and backed off a bit.
They stayed in the fast lane and were right beside me at the roundabout. They went right round the roundabout and headed back the other way.!
Bearing in mind that I had no MOT, no tax and that I was over the speed limit for a bit while they were behind me I’d say that was pretty darn lucky lol
Always the way. The ONE time I drove the GTE with no tax (was going somewhere and it was more convenient to tax it once I got there, which I did) the 5-0 followed me towards and onto the motorway, but left at the next junction. It's like they do it on purpose!
They're there, in their room.
Did the same last week with the Cavalier. Figured instead of taking the Volvo to the post office (2 miles) and back, then head past the Post Office to where I was going with the Cavalier... I'd just take the Cavalier and tax it en route. It'd take a proper grade A bell-end copper to do you for that if you were en route with insurance, MOT, V5 and £120 in your pocket.
Anyways, MoT = FTW!
Crail!
Cavalier Turbo Owners Club - As long as it runs I really dont care...
Lucky.
Nice to see those shockers being used. Should help and not too bouncy either. Be good to see it ripping it up the strip at Crail.
My sport steels and 45's can be had cheap if you want them....
What was the other advice? And as dan said, i drove once with no tax, got pulled on the way to the post office.
I'm louder than gods own revolver and twice as shiney.
Not too bothered about the price to be honest. The fronts have T1rs on which have seen a few trackdays, and the rears have about 5mm marangoni Zeta's, but one does have a blister on the inner wall, which is a shame, as to me it renders both rears un-usable.
Happy to stack them up and bring to billing for a pack of beer if you still want them at the time.
Bit more work done last night. Will add pics later on.
I installed a secondary fan last year as a backup / piece of mind when the car is being used on the quarter mile. It had stopped working for some reason. Turns out that the inline fuse that we added had snapped at the spades (if you know what I mean) and the relay was faulty. Changed both of those and it works again. I also made up a plastic bracket for the relay and mounted it neatly to the bulkhead behind the battery.
While the bumper and crash bar were off I changed the driver side headlight with one from a scrappy as I noticed that the glass was starting to seperate from the unit itself. Might turn the old headlight unit into some form of cold air feed or I might just leave it sitting in the garage along with great intentions.
Also changed the temp sensor with a new one.
Tonights task will be changing the wiper linkage and possibly stripping down a few engine ancilarys ready to lower the engine from it's mounts and beat the chassis leg with a hammer. Damn alternator pully![]()
Ah i remember that wonderful noise of the pulley hitting the leg.
I'm louder than gods own revolver and twice as shiney.
Sickening isn't it Ben? Did you cut out and re-weld your Nova chassis leg?
No, i hate that as it's so ott. Mine got a small amount of hammering (then filling and sanding to tidy it up) never touched since.
I'm louder than gods own revolver and twice as shiney.
+1, The sound goes right through you and is just so wrong. Mine came back again last week as i had to lower the alt 25mm to clear the carbs.
Big hammer every time for me too.
Hamnering a car sounds wrong, but im defo a fan of this over the ugly boxes people make. (only done it on a mates nova, a simple grinder cut lengthways on the chassis leg followed by hammering closed and weld the cut up, looks factory)
U not get enough space with the altenator and tb pipe removed?
I'm going to give that a try Gary as I have a new TPS to fit anyway.
7lb sledge hammer should be up to the job concidering u cant really swing more than a few inches.
