    Nova v6 build

I thought i would start a buildup of my first proper vauxhall project im jumping in at the deep end a bit but im looking forward to the challenge

Hoping to get it done in time for the summer, hopefully for pvs and billing, but as projects tend to go im sure it will end up taking a couple of years lmao

    right to business

    Picked this up

77k x30xe lump, pretty tidy nick came with all the sensors attached and no gearbox which is a bonus as i dont need it.

Look at the hunk of metal attached to the crank! needless to say thats going asap.

Been collecting a few bits to convert it to fwd fitment

    Vectra sump and pickup pipe

Vectra radiator hoses and thermostat housing< dont think i need this though.

Loom and ecu, finally found one that hadn't been attacked by snips.

Right decided to spend a couple of hours on the engine and get as much stripped off it so i can fit it onto my workbench in my poxy shoe box garage instead of it being out on the patio lmao.

    Re: Nova v6 build

First thing i wanted to do was get the rocker covers off as the oil filler cap had a little gunk under it

    took the inlet system off.

Only got time to take the ht leads off then it started pissing it down

This was the best of the ht leads, lets just say they are fcuked.

    Re: Nova v6 build

Picking the shell up at the end of the month when i get paid, its had a fender bender and needs a new slam panel and bonnet but the rails wings etc are good.

Probably going to build it for straight line acceleration, 1/4 miles the like, as lets face it its not gonna handle with that amount of weight upfront.

Debating whether to go N/A or Boost

Should have more of an update on the engine sunday as im not gonna have any spare time to do anything to it till then, plus with the bloody weather at the moment.

Thanks for the comments guys, just need payday to come around then i can make some real progress.

When you say the balance weights on the crank are they removable or do you mean the counterbalance sections of the crank?

    Re: Nova v6 build

My god they are massive i am on the lookout for a saab v6 turbo crank as apparently they are a bit stronger than the vauxhall item.

Should get a fair wack done monday+tuesday as im off so plenty of pictures coming.

    Re: Nova v6 build

Cheers for the advice it hasnt come with the oil cooler, i was thinking about having a remote mounted oil filter with a decent sized mocal cooler at the front of the car, as i can imagine the oil filter being a pain in the arse to change when its in the bay.

Does anyone know if you can get metal head gaskets for the x30xe?.

    Re: Nova v6 build

you would be better off converting it to "c25xe" fwd spec, you can use the full lot, the loom, the inlet etc, the sump etc. It's the motor with the most clearance, plus if you get an early c25xe it won't have the immobiliser

    Re: Nova v6 build

also i would consider converting the oil cooling to "air" instead of water, using a c20xe type oil cooler, also get yourself an early xe flywheel if there's one about.
