    Thanks Simon.

New cage, seat rails and cage gussets should land with Jay on Monday. Big thanks to Harry Hockly, everything was on the shelf so no waiting. Just need the pesky woman with the 12v Corsa and a blown engine to sell it to Jay!

Re: Track day corsa turbo build

Good news, the cage has arrived with Jay today so i might pop over tomorrow to check its all there and everything is ok. The again i might as well just wait until he has found me a suitable shell.

Also ordered the Autronic 1.09v chipset which means i will be able to use traction control. I just need to source a rear abs sensor for rear wheel speed.

Just going to go into the garage now and build up the front struts, hubs, brakes and CV joints.

Re: Track day corsa turbo build

Just been up to see Jay and check the cage is all there. Profiles on the ends of the tubes look far better finished than on the old custom cages cage. There is no swarf covering them and the tubes are also not coated in cutting fluid.

Hopefully i should have the car with me by the middle of February, Jay has got a few to many cars in at the moment to be able to get a shell and start on it. Once a few have gone (end of this month all been well) he will crack on with it.

It cant monitor 4 wheels at once if you have a cam sensor, there are only 5 HSI inputs to the SM4 in total, and if you use 2 for the crank and cam, that only leaves 3.

Thats not a problem though as there is NEVER a circumstance on a FWD car where you need to be monitoring more than 3 wheels at once IMHO

Re: Track day corsa turbo build

Will be using the reluctor interface then and monitering one front wheel and one rear wheel then chip. Will also be using the SM4 for car speed this time as i can do away with a speed sensor for the aim this way, might as well, it would be rude not to.

Unfortunately Mark has been ill and has not had chance to send the chips out. Not that i have got a shell yet to fit the engine into, although Jay is getting onto that tonight/tomorrow and hopefully we will have one sorted soon.

He did say he had unwrapped the new Harry Hockly cage and felt it was of better finish than the custom cages one. Thats a bonus as you dont often pay less and get better imho.

Why not monitor both front wheels and the outside rear wheel, thats what we are planning to do on Rob's

    PS

when its up and running let me know if you still dont have a 1.09 chip, I probably have one I can lend you till more become available, as I have one for mine that I bought thinking cause it was an older unit it wouldnt work on my engine, but have since found out it is in fact running a chipset that I can use for now anyway.

Re: Track day corsa turbo build

Thanks for the offer chip but my autronic version 1.09 chip has arrived this morning which is nice.

Just awaiting a delivery time scale for the revolution seat. Hopefully by next week Jay will have a shell sorted. He has one lined up but the lady is holding out for strong cash for it. Its a 1.0 12v with a knackered engine and she is only going to weigh it in at the scrappers.

LOL Aint me sorting out the shell, its up to Jay to sort that end out, if it was me i would be offering £150 or around that just to get it sorted. I have spoken to him this morning and he is going to get onto her again and make her another offer for it.

Thanks, TBH Jay said even if he had a shell he could not start it till the start of Feb due to lack of space in the workshop and the amount of work he has on at the moment. Still come the start of feb i expect a decent shell to have been sourced and work started on it.

TBH if I were you I would not give two hoots what work Jay had on. Your car should be the number one priority given what happened previously.

But if you're happy then that's all that matters. Just make sure you get to use it this year!

Try www.motorsportworld.co.uk for the seats, usually 3-4 weeks (sometimes quicker, they will tell you exactly if you phone) for any of the race seats as they are made to order, but their prices are good thats where I got my 2 corbeau seats.
