good work, think i’d find a good machine shop to make me some bolts on a lathe rather than try to use a die though

Re: Ronnie's project RWD :D - mk3 astra gsi turbo rear wheel drive ;)

    cheers lads

benn, its had a pair of full quarters fitted, pattern ones at that so i think thats where the annomolies lie. it did cross my mind for a second that its tight one side, loads of room the other, hmmmm had i welded the floor in off centre??? but a bit of frantic measuring and its fine the subframe is dead in the centre and square, ive got 8 good origional datums from the astra so can get some proper measurements on its ass

lee, yea i'm not really sure what to do, ive tried the 4 local bolts and fasteners and phoned half a dozen nationwide one places and it seems a left hand thread m30 fine is pretty impossible to find. ive found some chineese taps the right size for 33 quid, but they dont look up to the job of cutting plastic let alone steel, nice ones start at about 80quid plus. i tried one engineering place but they said they couldnt do it, might have to keep looking. i am concidering cutting/drilling out the wierd thread out of the arm and welding in a bung with a bit more of a normal thread in.

There are a bunch of people offering manual control which is a plugin and can be used to vary the assistance - if you do it yourself - alternatively, there are companies doing conversion kits that include all the EPS related stuff you need.

looking to be about 50-60mm thread length i recon

i have found a local machine shop that will make me up some from scratch with the inner and outer threads cut for £40 a piece, so just seeing if i can fing anything cheaper.

you can get a little box for about£30 that gets rid of the need for the ecu, and has a little dial so you can have it for hardcore track use or fairy finger light parking. theres a pic somewhere in this thread

Re: Ronnie's project RWD :D - mk3 astra gsi turbo rear wheel drive ;)

rigggggghhhhht, this has been put on the backburner for the last few months as ive been doing everyone elses cars, the latest has been this, which has been a nightmare, and yes everything DOES WORK

    super stealth

so anyway, reason for the update, as some of you may have noticed im slowly reshelling sbd16vastra's mk2 in to this, got his fuel cell, pedal box, braided lines..... and as of today a new package

these are the seats ive always wanted for this build and have been searching for months, but always gone to rich for me going over 200-250quid each second hand, and deffo cant afford £1100 for a pair new!! so emailed rob to see if he still had his and a bloody bargain was met, think he must of gone and checked what they were actually worth after lol but already agreed a price

just purched in for a show. but out of the sierra i killed all those years ago for the tunnel, i cept the seats too for the subframes

been sitting in looking cool!! cant beleive how light they are, and suprisingly comfy too i love them

Re: Ronnie's project RWD :D - mk3 astra gsi turbo rear wheel drive ;)

the corsa d was quite a big job in the end, for a 'big' car it was quite a squeeze to get it in, i honestly recon there is more room to put a xe in a nova, fabricared the mounts, exhaust manifold and throttle pedal from basically scratch, then there was the problem of getting the canbus happy as the clocks, epas, fans etc are all run off the main car ecu, not the engine. but everything works and it doesnt even throw up a em light

Re: Ronnie's project RWD :D - mk3 astra gsi turbo rear wheel drive ;)

nope keeping my old 360bhp engine, plenty of spec, woosner low comp pistons, steel rods, cometic gasket, +1mm valves in ported and polished coscast head, billet flywheel, few arp bits,

but replacing the garret gt2871r with a turbotechnics T38, replacing the standard inlet with jenvey throttle bodies, and replacing the evo5'd motronic replaced with megasquirt v3.

i've got all the bits and had them for ages, well years now
