what a waste if a week off, spending it all in bed with flu![]()
sill dyin now! so no progress
after something jonlem said in another thread about my rollcage being for FWD i remembered i hadnt put up in the plans the roll cage designs id found. at my old place my boss was heavily into motorsport and over the last 5 years namely bmws, E30 325s, M5s, E36 M3s and now a 1 series touring car! i took some pics of a M3 cage about a year ago when i was looking a 4x4 mine, was going to make a full cage my self from scratch ( tad optimistic i feel now lmao)
and want to incorperate the diff mounts into the cage too, so will be adding that onto my cage. not quite sure how, as its all on subframe, but i guess i'll have to pull it all forwards to the mounts on the subframe, im pretty sure the rear of the cage isnt going to fit the rear inner arches now so will all have to be modified anyway. but the last pic above is going to be more or less what its goinf to be like!

cant you build the cage from the front turrets up to the main hoop, then go from there once the floor/subframes welded in/fitted?
as for the diif mounts, you could do what the vw bug lads do...have say your 2 bits of tube coming from the diff up through the floor, and bring the cage from inside the car down to the 2 bits of tube and use a sleeve to bolt through(like the omp cages have to join together) that way if have to drop subframe then undo a few bolts, and drop it out
That BMW looks a handfulIt will be interesting seeing how you do it.

Good luck, hope you beat the flu soon.

Great reading, subscribed !
I just wish I had the space to even think about something so wild and crazy. Can't wait til the next update ! Get the lemsip into ya fella !
cheers mate, hopefully i'll be able to crack on soon!
some progress today again at last, horrah!
first was to remove the bits that wont be needed on the new floor
then started measuring up and cutting
getting close, but still loads of modding needed
several hours (on my own) later and got it pretty much all in
now with the floor the right size i decided to stich weld all the chassis legs before welding the floor in, much easier than laying on ya back welding overhead
then covered it in the anti rust getting the last of the rot off and left it overnight
and got a dilivery today from a-frame, my vauxhall to ford bellhousing
and it has a straight up or 7degree option
hopefully carry on tomorrow![]()
i Need to come visit!
