not really a update, but had the camera down the unit today so took some current progress pics, bit better than the gashy phone ones from before.
cage at present
and a few welds so far (still got to go all the way round obviously)

Is looking good. Get cracking tho.
I'm louder than gods own revolver and twice as shiney.
Looking good ronnie, looking forward to seeing the rear half of the cage. Did the cage come with spreader plates or are you fabricating them? Awesme welding as usual!
Which bits do you call the spreader plate's? The base plates at the bottom each foot? If so yes it comes with all 6, but i can only use the front two on mine![]()
Might be worth welding some thick plates underneath and bolting them through the shell to try and spread some of the load a bit, otherwise if you ever wreck it the cage is just going to punch a hole through the shell.
What you need is a delicious white caged GSI. lmao![]()

Teeth? LUXURY! When I was a child we ate by putting rocks in our mouth and jumping up and down.
I've made my own foot plate's for the mid section and the rear's are to the 10+mm rear turrets, you only need to do what you describe for a bolt in cage, this is far stronger .
I am looking for a cheap white astra for a naughty quick project actually, but a pain 100quid merit lol
Kickass. Is this the project that you mentioned on FB?

Yeah I meant the base plates under each tube, even though this is a weld in cage I would still try and get a base plate in as it will help spread the load f you ever flip it. Although 10+mm is pretty hefty!
Another project?! Does it envolve the V6?!
Yea the a pillar has the customcages base plates as seen in the pic's, the b pillar has big plates i've made up myself, not finished yet, need facias put on, and the rear turrets are thicker than any plate i could weld in lmao so the new turret is the plate, and will need a little plate on the front turret.
the calibra is for someone else. But the project mentioned on fb will go ahead if i get a dirt cheap astra merit and 2 dirt cheap veccy gsi's![]()
2 vectras and a astra merit equals one cheap project?! Once the cage is in is That all the welding done?
once the cage is all in it will be put up on its side so i can weld all the underneith, then thats just about all the 'structure' finished, still welding making brackets and mounts to do. then its time to frind the whole lot down smooth and fill so its all seamless![]()
awesome work as always!!!!!, looking forward to more updates

Cheers, may have a little time saved for it at the end of the week![]()
wow good project looking forward to seeing this done and how it handles ..
hi Ronnie, love your car,a lot of work but it will pay off!!just wondering if the rear coilover / tub set up would work ok in a standard rear beam? (93 sri cavalier saloon) fed up with springs falling out!!!
