Sounds like an awesome project you've got here, can't believe the other one was rotten!

Nice bit of info about the monaro diff, should make the project a bit easier.

Mate you work is always quality.
Am so looking forward to reading how you are getting on. I loved the Nova you did. And the astra turbo was mind blowing with you attention to detail. I think you are going to take this car to the next level. So all thats left for me to say is.
    GET ON WITH IT.

cheers lads, some welcomed response nearly 500 views and havnt even had it up 24 years yet lmao

glad you you all like my plans, and have been researching it all for quite some time!

its not going to be a 5 minuite job, its building a race car from scratch, and everythings gotta look right, gonna take a very long time indeed, how long, i dunno lmao

    thanks for all the support

Re: Ronnie's project RWD :D - mk3 astra gsi turbo rear wheel drive ;)

had a sort out in the unit today and cleared a bit of a space for them

and its always good to have a life style model, so for anyone that still hasnt got it yet....

    the plan is, before.....

    after

    lmao

the first stage is going to be stripping everything out, the silver shell is stioll pretty much a car, and i want to start from a bare bare shell, so first stage will be dismantlement!

i dont know how fast pogress will be on the project, dont know if i can still update as much as i used to with the astra thread, had way to o much enthuisam back then, out in the snow on christmas day solidering the looms under the inner wings, what was i thinking lmao

but progress will be uploaded and of corse well documented as soon as it happens

Bloke i work with retro fitted 4wd to his calibra and used a senator 24v lsd with a bit of modding. He had to have some driveshafts made up for it but it works well. His thread is in this section titled"Cally AWD retro fit (56K warning)"

Re: Ronnie's project RWD :D - mk3 astra gsi turbo rear wheel drive ;)

The cally turbo rear diff is from a V6 Holden from OZ, will handle up to around 250ft-lbs, so fine for bedding in.

The Carlton/Senny big diffs are a little stronger and some have LSD's, but this will only give you around 300ft-lbs and doing burnouts kills them pretty fast.

Lotus Carlton, Monaro diffs are your best bet if your going for silly power.
