Had my brothers camera yesterday and the pics didn’t come out too clear for some reason, but got mine today here’s the underneath of the calibra floor all stitch welded up

here’s the de ruster all dried up, the dis coloured bits just brush off

As the rear of the floor sits about 4 inches higher than the original astra some of the compartment cut outs that used to be inside the car, are now going to be outside, so made some plates up

    and the other side

speaking to shager with the 4x4 white astra he said with the inner arches sitting higher one of the inner quarter holes needs plating up too

and the other side, thought I’d just do the other holes this side so its all nice and smooth and flush

then thought I might as well do all the holes on the other side, getting carried away again, I can see this going the same way as the engine bay did already lmao

then it was time for a well overdue sweep up, grinding makes so much mess

then it was time to call up some enforcement and my two hands just weren’t enough to get the floor in, so called up some assistants andy and bruce. Coincodencely Drizz and his mate turned up for a look too so we had a right party going on.

When I initially lined everything up, not having a clue what goes where I decided to start at the joint behind the seats, putting the calibra floor exactly where the astra floor was removed, but once we got the subframe on and wheels on it was real clear the floor was way to far backwards. Had to move a couple of inches forward. We measured the wheelbase off my red one and used that as the base length.

So moved the whole floor forward a couple of inches so the calibra actually overlaps the astra floor now. And tacked in place

andyman holding the wheel up in the arch, snap shot courtesy of drizz lol

now a problem with moving the floor forward a few inches, its made it a bit short

so going to use the rest of the floor that I cut off, and cut the while section in

the reason for doing this instead of just using a plate, means I can carry on the chassis legs right to the rear panel, and will use the nice oridional lip on the boot floor and chassis legs to weld onto the rear panel

just quickly tried in the calibra inner arches too and they don’t look too far out which is handy

looks like pretty much all the holes I go carried away welding up needed to be welded up anyway

and that’s how I left it today, ready to be welded in

ya could of got a photo of my good side lmaolmao

Would the wheel sizes make much of a difference - 16" turbo rims vs 17" F1s?

    18inch f1's

but no, wheel base is taken from the centre of the wheel\hub, so doesnt't matter what size wheels are on there!

It would because the beam is on a pivot so as the pivot moves the hub will move further forward/bckward in the arch. I've found this on my nova now my beam angle is pointing up.

thats cuz ur lowering it more not changing the wheel size, no matter what size wheels u put on the beam and suspension arms are gonna be at the same angle, will be higher off the floor with 18s on as appose to 16s, but the suspension will still be at the same angle and wheel base will still be the same!
