Tried that - don't work - ended up grinding down one bolt to 15mm head rather than 19mm but I'd like a better plan

Yep - I realise that and I tried it and the sockets won't stand the torque setting needed for the bolts - they just split and it was a good quality socket not a cheap one

Solution was to grind the bolt head down but I'd rather not have done that if there is a special tool I can make that solves the problem I'd like to see that

Bottom line is a std LC flywheel and clutch assembly is close to 30Kgs in weight - I've replaced it with a flywheel and clutch ass that weighs less than 10 kgs - maybe I don't need to use as high a torque setting but I've seen flywheels come thro transmission tunnels when they have come adrift or broken up.......

I did that with a lightweight C30SE flywheel but bolt sizes are much smaller so easier to do - LC crank bolt spacing hasn't got as much room

Don't have pictures of the "special tool". It not just a ground socket.

Today I got my 3 3/4" carbon fiber driveshaft with 1350 U-joint. That looked MASSIVE But again, my engine will need a massive drivetrain

I didn't think it would be - as I said before tried that didn't work

I reckon it was a four flat open sided socket and you had to one flat at a time tighten

Amazing rebuild mate! Can you please tell me did you order the head gasket directly from SCE, or there is a European dealer. I'm starting a rebuild on my LC, so any help regarding spare parts is greatly appreciated

You need to join The Autobahnstormers Club.

    Info HERE

Sourcing parts is made SO much easier, as there are a few people who have had to search for bits and pass the information on to help other owners.

I work in a car tuning company in Norway and we made the head gasket exclusive with SCE so it can only be sourced from me/my company.

    Re: Lotus Omega/Carlton rebuild

Hello, just enjoyed reading your thread. Any updates?
Really like to see your adapted bellhousing.

I have also an additional question regarding your turbo c30se suggestion. Is it possible to use 144mm rods and C30xei pistons (machined down with one mm?) Or is there an other suitable piston from another brand that will fit after slight modifications?

We made a turbo C30SE with a Garrett GT35R, custom inlet manifold, forged bottom end (stock crank), stock cylinder head and got 459whp on 1,6bars of boost. It made 610wNm on 1,9bars.
