Also gives me a 22mm piston pin in stead of the heavy 24mm original pin.
    Look at this pictures:

JE forged pistons with 22mm lightweight or heavy duty wrist pins and high heat ceramic coated crowns and moly coated skirts.

    Re: Lotus Omega/Carlton rebuild

So you took rods that where ment for nissan and pistons that where ment for some other engine and put them into your custom 3.8 litre lotus engine ? And maschined the pistons to get the CR ratio you need and the ceramic coated ? Interesting. Do you know any good combinations i could use for turbo C30SE engine ? What pistons and rods can be fitted in standard C30SE engine for turbo ?
    C20XE , machined down pistons , MS-I v3.0 , HX35W 1.2bar and broken F20

No, I got new pistons custom made from Wiseco after my specifications, fitting the Nissan spec rods, my longer stroke, my desired CR etc. The pistons is not coated yet, but I will apply friction coating to the skirts before I assemble the engine. I will not apply ceramic coating on the top because I want the piston to absorb the heat from the combustion to avoid the most heat possible from the cylinder head it self. Why? Because the aluminum in the C30SE/C36GET cylinder heads is very bad and porous and easily cracks. I don't want to destroy my £2,000+ cylinder head.

For the C30SE we use custom rods and pistons to fit. Use a 10mm longer rod and of course 10mm less CH on the piston. The C30SE responds amazingly to boost. We made a turbo C30SE with a Garrett GT35R, custom inlet manifold, forged bottom end (stock crank), stock cylinder head and got 459whp on 1,6bars of boost. It made 610wNm on 1,9bars. The sound of the engine is just amazing, I think it tops my list of engine sounds. It idles like a Chevy SB and screams like an motorcycle on RPMs. It turns 7500rpm and pulls more and more with more RPM. The stock cams are actually very modest, but the engine just pulls more power with more RPM up to nearly 7000RPM.

@MikeOff: Nice piston, but I still don't like the shape of the dish. I actually run only a 28cc dish with the piston well above the deck and more stroke. I have a higher CR than original, but I want a decent base CR.

really interesting project, what sort of base cr are you heading for? and how much boost?

I love this car so much already! Will the standard LC diff/shafts...etc take this kind of abuse?

@lee303: Very close up to 9,0:1. Don't know the boost yet of course, but 1,5-1,8 peak boost perhaps. It's impossible to say before the real mapping.

@Jack: I hope so If not I have to buy upgraded diff and shafts, but they are expensive. I'm not using the LC prop shaft, that one is made new in one-piece carbon fiber. It will take the abuse.

@vxlgsi: As you can see from the pictures I have made my own (lightweight) flywheel. We also make a lot of steel flywheels for other Vauxhalls and other brands.

    Re: Lotus Omega/Carlton rebuild

Dismantled the front and rear suspension this weekend. Should be sandblasted tomorrow so I can deliver it on powder coating on wednesday. I have all parts brand new for installation when the parts are powder coated so in a week or so the car should be rolling again

Also ordered a Tremec T-56 today. When the front and rear suspension is back mounted I need the engine and tranny inn order to proceed the project. Will keep you posted!

All suspension parts are now sandblasted and powdercoated in black. Should go on the car in the middle of next week.

Couple of pictures of the differential. New 3,91:1 ring and pinion and all new bearings.

    Re: Lotus Omega/Carlton rebuild

Car is now being assembled, finally I'm very happy these days and if it continues in this pace in the future I will be driving this car in May

Keep the corrosion away! The rear corrosion you see is clearly from an old rear end damage. We'll fix it before the bumper will be put on the car.

My friend that is helping me with the project and doing most of the build is soon finished under the car.

The transmission arrived today. As soon as I've modified a bellhousing we are ready to put it on a dummy engine I will use during fabrication and put it in the car. Maybe already this weekend

Here we are finished with welding all holes in the engine room.

Same as above seen from inside the engine room.

Some "stuff" is going on before the black finish.

    And ready.

Some of the rear suspension is mounted with all new K-mac bushes and camber-kit.

Front frame is bolted and even torqued in placed with 125ft/lbs

    Front suspension with Powerflex bushes

    Front suspension with Powerflex bushes

Front suspension with KW Competition damper.
