1.8 Small block Corsa B

1.8 From a 2001 Vectra B, this was a STUPIDLY easy conversion. I can't believe it isnt a popular one?

Work so far:
2.25" Straight through system
Adjustable FPR
EGR Removed
Induction Kit (Or george valve as I like to call it )
280mm Discs + V6 calipers
Coil overs
Front + Rear braces
Polybushes
Braided brake lines

At present she goes very well, its on par with my mates Redtopped GSi.. I plan to get some lairy cams, build a plenum and I've got a better manifold.. These engines are good for 170bhp without too much of a headache.

Re: 1.8 Small block Corsa B

Its not a very common conversion because unless your going for tb's etc etc, its not really worthwhile fitting over a 1600 16v, which are more common to buy and get parts for. (Std power difference is only like 10-12hp)

Re: 1.8 Small block Corsa B

Its on par with a local XE'd corsa and pushed a TypeR up the road... So what more can I say.

Re: 1.8 Small block Corsa B

'sold' the idea , for me.. convincing performance wise. Its like the ultimate small block then.

Re: 1.8 Small block Corsa B

edited my reply, lol..
to have around 120 bhp std, out-of-the-box from a small block engine,.. its up my street anyway.
Getting cheaper to buy all the while too i think, from vectras.

Re: 1.8 Small block Corsa B

I think the characteristics of the engine better suite the Corsa too.. Revy, light weight and the variable inlet gives a nice ballanced power/torque delivery..

The one you have is a X18XE1 or the Z18XE?

Re: 1.8 Small block Corsa B

The Z18XE has 130 BHP, X18XE1 115BHP.

The XE1 was used from about 99 to 2001, then the Z18 from 2001.

Z18 has electronic throttle so a little bit more work.

They a longer stroke X16XELs so will fit wherever a 1.4 or 1.6 XE does.

There are a range of engine covers you can get too, The one in the pic is a Z18XE one, the X18 one has the rear section in black textured finish.

The Corsa C one is all black textured and a lot smaller profile.

The Vectra C is a massive silver boxy one.

I thought that the Z18XE one was plastic (and a bit lighter...), is this true?

How about electrics? Were there any problems or just the usual X16XE-out-of-the-box conversion?

I am thinking to follow the X18XE1 route too, but can't decide...

that results in 15 bhp diference between engines?

whats does the x18 needs to get 130bhps?

if price is slightly over a x16xe i would go for it.. if its more than 600 poundish i would go 20xe..

Re: 1.8 Small block Corsa B

F13 gearbox.

You need the Z18XE management + throttle body...

then it makes some sense this swap.. i would go for it and turbo it. Should be ok for a low boost 180 bhpish..

but the down side is that those engines are overpriced.. they are in most cases recent.

running 204 bhp is fair enough, dont know exactly if those 204bhp correspond or can cope with the same 204 of a standart c20let..

The X18XE1.. have rare parts....since they are not from the most wanted-popular engines
