CorsaGSIturbo project

Well where to start.. iv always been a fan of nova's tbh, my 1st car was THE best nova in the world (untill it ended up on its roof) then i brought a corsa sport 1.4 16v before being blinded by the fast n the furious hype n getting a max power featured saxo. when that died down i got myself the G***AAY nova which id of loved to have put a 2.0ltr in but the shell was rotten. since then ive been saving the pennies and keeping an eye out for another nova worth throwing some money at but as you all know they are very hard to find these days, with the long wait i started looking into corsa's again and browsing pistonheads every day i came across a corsa with a C20LET lump in going quite cheap so i had to have a look!

obviously the car was going to have problems but with it being a complete car it was looking good and hopefully on the cheaper side to turn into a show/track car instead of buying one already done!

this is how she looks...

as you can see on this pic, the intercooler pipe was made from an exhaust flexi pipe which would have leaked anyway without the added holes in where someone tried to weld it!

i also hit a feckin dirty big rock on the way home as i was following my sister down a dark road and she failed to warn me and just drove over it spitting it at me!!! you can see slight damage on the bumper where the tyre hit it.

well after looking around it and seeing how much of a bodge it was put together i thought it wounld be a good idea to rip apart the block and just see how well looked after it was...

you can clearly see how its been ran without coolant for quite some time!

damaged pistion's.. some looked like they would go for quite some time but no.3 was very close to the piston ring so i decided to order new ones

one snapped clutch.. couldnt feel any problems tho?!

soo there we have whats wrong.. now lets put it right!

my omega 87mm turbo pistons from SBD motorsport

ordering rods today and will be sending the block to be bored out aswell so pics to follow..

Re: CorsaGSIturbo project

cheers dude

i know, they had tried to seal it using a bike tyre inner tube aswell!
also the anti roll bar had been fitted with the lowering kit.. but they fitted it in the wrong place making it higher so the gearbox was sat on it lol, proper job

Re: CorsaGSIturbo project

slam pannel and suspension turrets look a bit rotten mate, shouldnt be too bad to sort with the engine out though.

nice pistons also.

Re: CorsaGSIturbo project

I think some of the corsa B slam pannel's are welded in and some are just bolted, or alternatively chop a good one off a scrap shell and make a removable type slam pannel by overlapping it and bolting it down. will save soooo much messing around at a later date if you have to do the head gasket or turbo work.

Re: CorsaGSIturbo project

good idea.. cheers mate

this one is welded in.. and is still strong around the headlight area so il look into making a removeable mid & bottom section.

Re: CorsaGSIturbo project

an update..

ive had my block n crank sent away to trusted garage near me, had the block bored out to 87mm to suit new pistons and was hoping to have the crank polished..
but when they had a look they found that one of the big end journels had already been ground so they had 2 grind the 3 others to match and suplied me with a glyco bearing kit. also brought some new con rods from SBD motorsport, il be up 1st thing tomorrow to build the bottom end
