    Hey all!
Yes everything's spot on, apart from the ride lol - I had to take the corsa helper springs out for the mot so the front is hard as fook, they'll be going back in soon as everytime it hits a patch in the road it sounds like something's broke lmao.

    No problems yet .
Yesterday I went to a trackday at mallory (not in my car lol) with a chap who lives down the road as he got a free pass for doing ppc mags new website, chatted to will holman of ppc mag about a future feature saw him stack his ur quattro into the armco that he's been building for hell knows how long, very bad luck everyone was so gutted for him!
Saw the merlin-powered SD1 doing rounds, what a sight (and sound lol!)

He took a chavved up corolla on 18" chrome rims lmaolmao that he bought off this asian lad for £300 as an engine donor for his mini, we stripped it out and generally improved it with some sledgehammering, he and his mate were basically driving it like they were trying to destroy it - and i went along with my new chinky camera:
YouTube - Dazzler in the Corrolla at the Esses Mallory Park PPC Track Day Oct 27th 09

    haha, what a day!
Had a passenger ride in the AA silencers capri who are an exhaust place in stafford, fooking hell what an experience! Seriously makes me want to track mine but money is an issue lol
Had some cool machinery there, editing a full video so watch this space if anyone's interested lol!.

    +edit - £180 apparently not £300 lmaolmaolmao

Whilst they don't become loose when jacked, they do ping about a little as they're getting more and less comfy in the seats right before the wheel is off the ground thought i'll be on the safe side and take them out in case they pick that up on the mot.
I could get some helpers to go on the coilies instead but i like the idea of the load being spread between the inner wing and the original spring seats

My new coilovers for the vectra ping when turning at low speeds. Think its because the bit between the spring & the helper is only a flat of plastic so it can move slightly. Would that be a failure?

aaah i see, it won't be a problem on coilies i don't think, because the shocker goes through the middle obviously
But someone told me that if there's noise as they unload the wheels, they'll investigate that area further and if the spring can be moved by hand then it's a fail.
I can see why tbh, worst case it would drop out, especially an old worn spring could snap, collapse and fall out, sharp edges could do all sorts of damage
I think yours will be fine though, you can just raise them before mot compressing the springs a little, or they may not even notice

    Re: 1978 Kadett C 2l 8v Turbo Adventures...

Was driving along today, and suddenly the battery light comes on. So after assuming it's something to do with my dodgy wiring somewhere and that there's nothing wrong with the car, i continue on my journey home.

Get home, check cars battery voltage on the lappy with the engine running, hmm pretty low at 12.something volts.

open the bonnet, and find this:

    lmao

It has been getting a little loose lately, but nowhere near loose enough so i left it thinking ill tighten it up when it starts to squeek. But how it drove like that for 15 minutes, in traffic etc lmao just on the battery lol!.

So, kids, don't run loose belts!
Off to halfords on my bike then lol.

On a positive note, the boost control is getting there nicely, now i'm flat out and it holds 12 or so psi, so it's working, just we overcooked on the boost table a bit lol, but now there's a starting point

Oh, finished editing the mallory vid if anyone wants to have a watchie. It's pretty funny lmao

    such a shame eh
the audi and the volvo both came off at the same spot, so that section was cleaned afterwards. Could have been a bit of oil off someone's car or something

haha, cheers simps - lol i thought i'll leave that bit in just for a laughlmaolmao

After your mot fail I worried about my test on megasquirt, on 14-1 afr 18 degrees advance it got CO 1% and HC of 102. Much better than last years running motronic and a pass.
One thing I found with idle and tuning issues was that the intake sensor would heat soak in the engine bay once that is sorted results became much more constant.

    woah, 102 that's really good!
do you mean the inlet air temp sensor? Mine's not set to do anything until about 50 degrees where it starts retarding about 1 degree ignition for every 15 degrees temperature.
It's never got that hot though.

I think motronic idles richer as standard, so perhaps that's what made the difference, and the advance too no doubt!

    Re: 1978 Kadett C 2l 8v Turbo Adventures...

quickie update, no pics though unfortunately, dark .

Today, did a scrappy run, to see if i can salvage something to make my engine stabiliser from, as the turbo coldside this time has been hitting. Which means the engine's shifting about way too much.

Spotted a sort of axle link rod on a conveniently upside-down car which had bushes in-figured perfect!
Borrowed mateys spanner to get it off and broke the spanner so gave him a couple of quid for it and cycled home with fail written over my forehead lmao.

Came back and found some BMW rear arb links i didn't know i had which were perfect, they got a bush in and everything! So set about making it. Finished in the dark hence no pics (will get some tomorrow), but it's awesome and works perfect, the engine's still allowed to move laterally on the mounts but the one i made stops it tilting as much as it did, meaning the turbo's not fouling any more . And it feels much tighter driving it, yet no bangs or rattles, win!!

Anyway. Was driving and just pulled off from traffic lights and it chucked ANOTHER alternator belt ffs . I tightened the new one and everything, wtf! The alternator mount may not be straight is what im thinking. ghey, another trip to halfords on me bike lol.
