Astra CDX tidy up

Well the Sport I had before was more of a dog than I realised. It needed rear arches, top end re-build, front end was bent and the clutch is on the way out.

But a good mate of mine needed a car that was cheaper to insure. So we straight swapped for this......

An '97 R reg Astra 2.0 CDX. Best bit is doesn't really owe me that much.

The pics above show the car (on the right with the Cally 15's). Not too bad as I got it.

So I started to change a few bits. New GSi rear lights and Sport steelies.

Plans if they all go well! Are to getting it looks as per, but with a few detail changes. Want it close to what Astra Dan had with his MK3 CD. Defo want to 5-stud it (got all that jazz sat and waiting) with Veccy 288mm front brakes (After the front hubs are machined ) behind Turbo fanblades.

Before then I would like to sort the exhaust as it's got the usual cracked fanimold and that gash oval tail box has gone for a GSi one.

If you 5 stud it, you won't need to machine anything for 288 brakes.

Really!?

I thought it was the case when using Cav V6 front legs, something about the Veccy Discs not fitting? It'd be really cool if I could get away without machining.

Cheers bud. Hopefully this one will turn out how I intended it.

Lugy:- It's tempting to paint them black, but I dunno yet.

Melv:- It'll be a while before I 5-stud it. Finding a set of Turbo fanblades locally is proving hard to say at least. But you'll be the first to know.

Ah yes, you're quite right. The hub flange is a little too big for the 288 disc bells. Either turn the hub down or use an angle grinder, or even use 284 discs, or use later Calibra front legs.

Re: Astra CDX tidy up

I'm planning to change the front wheel bearing with the front legs i've got. So maybe getting and using a pair of Veccy hub flanges instead, could be a possibility?

Or I might take the angle grinder to them, Mark T style.

Alas i'm broke, 12 hours weeks FTL! So that's on the wish list for now.

Just been speaking my mate I got the car off, he's got a Veccy 3-spoke steering wheel and bits to fit it. That'll make an nice touch. Might fit a GSi Trip comp too.
