Talking Deans new project...Redtop mk2 Astra GTE

well, as much as i liked my lil corsa she jus wasnt fast enough. as most of you know i was planning a redtop conv in november for her, but what with the baby on the way and money being tight, i decided to swap her for this Astra GTE. engine done about 80,000 miles an pulls very well... apart from juddering like a bitch when i come off the throttle
general thinking is that the stoopidly huge unshielded induction kit an bodged inlet hose are sapping power and making her slightly lumpy, but i also suspect somethin is wrong with the fuelling so iv jus dropped it off at a mates garage to have that looked into.
found myself an SFI box and hose for an absolute bargain price of £8 delivered! so thats bein paid for tomo, so have that on this weekend hopefully.
bodywise she needs some work, both rear arches, front wing etc, but she's generally not in too bad a shape. when i get her back from garage in bit im gna giv her a proper wash an polish see how the paint comes up, but im not all that hopeful as looks like a crap respray! think i may need to employ benns talents on that front....
not much to report so far, will post up some better pics later, and be assured there will be comprehensive pics for evrythin i do to her over the coming months!

the kit is about £800 inc spoiler... plus need a full respray on top of that so lookin at £2000 /£2500 minimum and thats with me doing the fitting! think that'll be my long term project/dream and jus go back to standard for now....

Nice! Not mant GTE's on here at the moment. Clean her up & give it a subtle drop & some GM 15"s FTW.

Mattig kit looks shi* IMO & with the proper wheels on will drive like an absolute Dogg.

Re: Deans new project...Redtop mk2 Astra GTE

well i gave her a clean out today, an a quick wash. paintwork is defo gonna need takin back and re buffing as there are some marks in there that jus will not come off at all! dont think shes been washed properly for a very long time!
carpets were all hoovered dash cleaned an shined etc. carpets arent gonna clean up much better than they have already due to cig burns and stains so il be on the lookout for a new carpet soon.
boot came up lovely though, so i thought id chuck up some pics of the boot an spare wheel. only one rust patch in boot so will sort that and repaint asap.
need to put a steelie in there as a spare though as the GTE alloy protrudes slightly from the boot floor, meanin the carpet has moulded itself around it. if anyones interested in the alloy, let me know, has brand new firestone f700 tyre on it too.
will get pics of the interior cleaned up tomo, gotta try an re stick the roof lining, which im not looking forward to at all! its only half come down, but i jus know its still gonna be a bitch to do!

right well in no particular order heres my TO DO list.

AFM - on its way, hopefully here tomo!
SFI airbox and donut - bought
panel filter - bought
interior door handle surrounds both sides
drivers side footwell ecu cover panel flap thingy ( kickwell?)
new clear side repeaters to go on
new carpet
new rooflining
boot carpet
sort rust patch in boot
handbrake cable tightening
paintwork sorting
front and rear bumpers resprayed
tailgate and spoiler resprayed
rear arches sorted with new metal
front wing dent popped out, slight crease smoothed off an sprayed up
new wing mirrors
remove bump strips
new pillar and boot vinyl (carbon fibre for pillars?)
make up some speaker pods for front doors
new front components and 6x9s for rear shelf ( prob vibe sq6x9 for bass as not having a sub!)
front grille sprayed black and custom reverse painted GTE badge....doin it atm
refurb the white wolfrace alloys

an im sure theres lots more at some point but it think thats enough to be gettin on with eh!
my main priority is to get her runnin sweet and useable for work,
then bodywork, then extras!

if anyone has any bits iv mentioned goin cheap then by all means pm me!

Re: Deans new project...Redtop mk2 Astra GTE

cheers bud, only kit id be interested in would be the mattig, but im kinda thinkin that puttin her back to mint standard would be more satisfying...
an if i end up needin a respray she'll either stay white, or the deepest glossiest black i can find.
anyhow thats a long way off yet!
