| Re: My Cav turbo rebuild, mot soon :) basically the head went porous and i wanted to uprate some parts as i went along, what started as a quick thing turned into a 3 year plan wi more and more bein done and replaced...
some of the main items
arp con rod bolts head studs etc,
steel head gasket,
uprated fuel pump,
uprated spark plugs
front mount intercooler,
silicon hoses
all new timing kit,
water pump
oil pump,
ceramic clutch,
uprated actuator,
new uprated alternator,
phase 2 software,
3.5bar fixed fuel pressure regulator,
irmscher 30mm lowering springs
xe cams.
All filters etc etc
Transfer box oil changed
Coscast head
Camshaft sensor
Coil & module
Fuel pump relay
Also ordered were all the small bits for interior/exterior,
· brand new velour mats,
· flaps,
· badges,
· weatherstrips,
· wiper arms,
· door mouldings,
· new front and rear bumpers and plastic reinforcements,
· new headlights and indicators,
· Clean set of 2nd hand fogs, (new ones are 100quid each, cant justify it at the mo lol L
· side repeaters,
· one new mirror,
· all the clips for the skirts and door mouldings etc,
· new central lockin module
· new battery
So wi engine out and sorted and back in, it was time to look at the outside, car has always been clean, genuine and straight with original arches etc, but I had a score on the pass side which needed painted, small bit of lacquer peel on the edge of the spoiler which no one would notice but annoyed me and few stone chips on the front. Was easier to respray the car than start tryin to patch the small bits. Friend in Banbridge sorted the prepping and stripping side of things and another friend sorted the painting. Have to say many thanks to these guys they’ve done an immense job couldn’t have hoped for a better finish anyone looking paintin done I highly recommend them pm and I’ll give ye details!!
Once she was stripped of the bumpers and skirts etc was afraid in case we’d find a few holes/rot, but happily she was very solid. Few pics of the paintin/strippin
Scrape on pass side
Car before goin for paint (cant really see scrape, but one of those things u know its there it bugs you)
Strippin, bumpers skirts windows, mouldings etc etc all off
Car primed |

| Re: My Cav turbo rebuild, mot soon :) some bits and bobs arrived
and the refurbed alloys all wrapped in nice new toyo rubber
finally the new fogs are ere
the irmy bushes have been pressed in aswell so the camber shud be sorted for lowering. Hopefully be mot-able in the next few weeks!!!
well mot prep in full swing wi a mate working hard at it as i've bust me back!!! fuel leak cured, exhaust has new clamps, brake lines all cleaned, new frt suspension arms and drop links, the lowering springs are fitted on the frt as frt left had a broken coil, but the rears are a bit loose on full xtension so i'll leave them till after mot, new wipers and all bulbs tested ok
got the new frt headlamps in think they look great, new pass side fog in too but need to get bumper off to do drivers side.
ABS being a pain throwin light on occasionally but hopefully that be sorted, just wax oiling to do (thus the silly vectra rims, save gettin wax oil on the back of the tubby rims, change the frt windows to non tinted items and think its ready to go thru... fingers crossed it passes 1st time!!
whilst i was in the mood workin at it i decided to get it cleaned up a little as inside hadn't been touched in aaaaages, few pics for now
new fog and headlamp
interior cleaning
and of course wi dirty hands i touched roof cloth back pass side... grr
next up for the cleanin treatment... under the bonnet!!! |

| Re: My Cav turbo rebuild, mot soon :) i sourced them through autovaux part no. is
AS90372642
I know from lookin at a few diff centre caps that there were variation, whether they just superceded the part no. when a new supplier made them or they modified the design in some way i'm not sure
think vaux were about £24 each + vat for them
autovaux worked out 13.82+vat each |

| Re: My Cav turbo rebuild, mot soon :) That is a very clean example. One the cleanest i've seen in along time. Loving the boot build and the retrimmed door card insets. Car didnt look too bad on the Vectra rims. Could do with being abit lower an the back though, IMO.
