| My First 2.0 Corsa (help and advice needed along the way!) Just making a thread so if I get stuck or have missed anything obvious you kind people can help me out... Thanks in advance!
The Corsa (1996 1.4 16v Sport)
The donor car, this will probably be broken for spares once I've finished with it. (Cavalier Sri 2.0 16v Ecotec [Boooo!]) Engine out of the Corsa today 1st question; will the 2.0 engine go into the bay like this with it's gearbox attached? The 1.4 was a tight squeeze / tip?
Also what gearbox is on the Corsa sport? X14XE Engine I think?

| Re: My First 2.0 Corsa The engine will go in that way but its easier to drop the car on to the engine IMHO. |

| Re: My First 2.0 Corsa If you can get hold of a load leveller for your hoist then drop it in from above, its quicker than disconnecting all the suspension setup just to drop the car onto the engine
also take off as much stuff off the engine as you can like mounts, manifolds etc |

| Re: My First 2.0 Corsa Sanded rust back to bare metal and painted the wheel arches and engine bay (fun job ) Next question do I definatly not need this Corsa strengthend in anyway? I don't mind spending a few extra quid to make it safer?? |

| Re: My First 2.0 Corsa Couldn't find a running XE anywhere mate Was on the hunt for a donor car for ages, suddenly a Cavalier SRi turned up and I know it's been looked after and just had timing belt etc...
+ I have the whole car so I can use driveshafts and brakes.
I'm still on the look out for a good XE engine but the engine is coming out of the cav this week if I can't find one. |
