South African Corsa Turbo 450hp target

Started this project close to 1 year ago, have all the build pictures. The idea here was to see if i could do everything myself as i am very mechanically inclined and had the desire to learn and motivtation to see it through to the end.

More Pics to come.

Re: South African Corsa Turbo 450hp target

The turbo is a custom spec T3/T4, T4 'O' trim turbine wheel in a 0.63AR T3 exhaust housing, with a Volvo Compressor wheel (56mm inducer/82mm exducer) 48 trim, in a T04E A/R 50 housing, and all the rest 360 thrust etc. Plan is to boost around 1.8 bar (26 Psi) when all tuned up.

the collector on the manifold looks a bit of a let down compared to the rest of the work.

Other than that i'm happy

For my first ever manifold build i am quite happy, I also didn't have alot of space to play with as i moved the engine more to the front of the engine bay.

looking good, but how come you moved the engine abit further forward? surely that would affect handling?

I think you need a bit more silicone (less alloy) in the boost pipework because the engine will rock under load!

Great attention to detail, it looks well built & seeing as you made the exh manifold yourself..... Pat yourself on the back.

How long until mapping?

Re: South African Corsa Turbo 450hp target

Car has bilstein thick shaft racing shocks up front with 2L brakes, Koni adjustables at the rear, Engine was moved forward to increase traction, only been moved forward by 3cm so shouldn't affect handling that much, The chassis has been seem welded, aluminium roll cage going in, Quaife diff, equal length shafts, Will be running in and mapping at the same time, well a friend will be driving and i will be mapping, after a few hundred km i can put it on a dyno and fine tune.

The boost pipes are actually quite easy to move, so there should be enough flexability, but besides for that all the mounts are solid polyurithane mounts, so it should flex very little if anything.

Here's a vid of another corsa i Helped build for a friend. Its an XE engine with M3 itb's

Re: South African Corsa Turbo 450hp target

Nice one Pantera. Seems to be going well for the local okes - Chris and Debs have probably by now got their mint Superbosses and this project. Who built the turbo, I'm looking to upgrade the Focus ST225 I have and that spec would do the job @ 350 or so bhp with a custom mani.

Are 2ltr brakes enough? I'd want better than that personally.
