my first ever corsa xe project

Hello im damien aka damo1
after some thought i decided to do a corsa xe as ive always wanted to do track car im a semi skilled as i worked for and did my apprenticeship with leeds commercials (hgv mechanics) but lefted due to a injury

so this is how its starts i got looking on here with the other projects and wanted to build 1 myself so i sourced a doner car a K plate calibra 2.1 miles away from me off ebay costing £450 was in got nick but inside was poor so i put i bck on ebay and it sold for £550 making £100 profit NICE!!!!!

so i sourced another calibra in bradford on a L plate in blue with a bloody wonderful engine pulls like a train ((nice an clean)) and the best interior ive ever seen not 1 rip this cost me for the whole car £300 mot'd till january and taxed ubtill end of september so i stripped out the leather and sold it for £150 on ebay so doner car cost £150

i was given a hand removing the engine from a member on here called bobstar who's friend was helping me earlyier on but found out i was buildind a xe and wanted o see which was a blessing for me as he had a engine crain and a corsa xe so i had the info incase i needed it thanks bobstar

so local car recyclers came and took away the shell of the doner car to make space on my drive
so while engine was out i decide to give a good cleaning over so i got some black smooth hammerite paint so i degresed the engine block and painted that up looks nice

and i decided to give the cam and rocker cover a going over so i decided in vauxhall silver for the cam/rocker covers with gloss black for the spark cover so 2 coats of primer on each and 4 coats of paint with 3 coats of clear and it looks a1

so ive decided to keep going and in the middle of painting the inlet manifold in silver an the powercap in gloss black...

so i ordered the front engine mount from LMF for £40 came yesterday so i painted that up also in silver to go with the block in black but ive also painted the box mount in the same colour

so after that i searched on ebay for a corsa was after a 1.2 but i lost out on about 5 corsa's on the sum of about £250 but last week i finally managed to get hold of 1 again from ebay on L plate in red 1.4 For £155 no tax or test but for £155 i couldnt go wrong,
so on friday i travelled down to derby from leeds 1 hr 15 mins drive and finally got it home no radio in it but i had my beloved ipod lol

looked around the car and all it needs is a drivers wing and headlight so its not bad for the cash but b4 i asked the seller wat he wasnts for the car and said he wanted about £250 but would rather let the auction run till the end STUPID MAN
lost out on an extra £100

so all in all its cost £300 for the doner car minus £150 sale of leather
£155 corsa
£40 engine mount
£30 engine degreaser and paint £60 powercap
total=£435

thats not bad i think so far i do have some good plans for this car hopefully making it into a stripped out corsa gsi track car with roll cage big brakes and big spec engine i was thinking of getting a c20let i had 1 fitted to my calibra but i was to much trouble so im going with the xe 150 bhp as standard in a lightweigh car shud be fun so thats it for the time being will update everytinme i do something to the car

i will upload some pics but it will be by link only as i dont know how to just but the pics on here direct but if any1 can do it for me once i loaded the links i will be so appreciated

just sorted some of the pics for you, just copy what i did for the rest mate, looks like a good project by the way, low budget xe corsas are the future. smart moving on buying the whole calibra instead of just the engine too, what did you do with the wheels? could have sold them and actually sold the cali shell to as they are worth about £150+ in scrap metal. could have ended up with a completly free engine

Im doing my first ever engine conversion too very soon, already got myself a calibra with mint leather and a sweet running x20xev engine, ive dared to be a bit different and gone for an ecotec

Re: my first ever corsa xe project

today i did abit more cosmetic work

1# i removed the oil lever dipstick and degreased and primed up and painted in silver as th block is in black so i thought it would go instead of it being black.

2# removed te throttle bodie again degreased and primed up ready for the sliver base paint thought i would do it this colour as the powercap which comes on monday /tuesday will be in black so dont want it to be to much black everywhere.

3# also thought i might aswell give the 16v calipers i took from the calibra a good clean up and paint job again done in vauxhall silver

next job tommorow is to take off the inlet manifold and spray that up and clean up the oterside of the block and again paint up in hammerite smooth black all fun...........

so below are some pics for some stupid reason i cannot load them on 1 post so have to be on loads sooorryyyy
