| Corsa Turbo Project WIP Signed upto Migweb not too long ago and just become a fully paid member so thought I might aswell put a project thread up, Ive had 6 Corsa's currently own 2 still, my daily run about which is my Green one which some of you may have already seen on Corsasport
And then my latest project, purchased off mig member flopstocks for £2400 in May of this year.
A few reicepts aswell
First prioritories where to get it running perfectly and mechanically sound
So up it went on axel stands to make sure the underneath was perfect, I know what older Corsa shells can be like so it had to be done
Its a very clean shell, only found one rust hole in the rear arch so it was welded up straight away along with a fresh coat of waxoyl
Next was new rear brake discs, pads and wheel bearings
Car was ready to go back on the floor for abit, problem being I had 4 alloys with knackered tyres, so I thought i would treat it to a new set of wheels
Before:
After:
Went for some 16" BBS RX Alloys in Anthracite, need new caps and a refurb, not sure weather to stay with anthracite, silver or white?
Needed some new plates so went for some fancy pressed plates
Also had a tigra scuttle spare so fitted that along with some new wipers
All was fine until the other day when driving it around town and one of the oil cooler pipes burst, all due to it digging into a jubilee clip, oil warning light came on and started tapping to hell so rolled it home
After getting it back up in the air we found the pipe and got it off.
So just awaiting some genuine Vauxhall 10w/40 Semi-syn oil and oil filter, and got to track down a new pipe, just in time for MOT Fingers crossed it passes but Im sure it will fail on something
Got along way to go with this project, just making sure its mechanically sound before i go any further with it, but next step is decent suspension, better brakes and then onto exterior and interior, have tons of plans but keeping them secret for now, so plenty of updates on the way.
Cheers |

Bit of an update, took delivery of some genuine Vauxhall Oil today 10w/40 semi synthetic, along with a genuine vauxhall oil filter.
And the most important bit:
Should be back on the road this week |

Rarely does it to be honest but its another job worth doing.
Got the cooler pipe off ebay, a guy selling lots of vauxhall clearence parts so snapped it up.
The pipes exactly the same as the one Ive removed from the car, the engine is out of a cavalier so im not 100% sure if the oil cooler pipes are different between the cavy engine and the cali engine?
We where lucky that the pipe burst a few hundred yards up the road and we just rolled it down to where we lived, we did put some more oil in it as we where going to move it but it just sprayed out everywhere, so we just started work on it outside instead and considered ourselves lucky.
Oil and oil filter turned up tonight and new pipes due tuesday
So more updates then
Thanks for the comments |

| Re: Corsa Turbo Project WIP i read a while back of a group of landrover owners having a big group meet in sweden/norway where they have a party just before it snows and spray used engine oil over the WHOLE underside, due to the salt over there, some of the rovers are 40-50 years old so it must work, cheaper than waxoil, just think yours could be the only corsa b left in the year 2035, would it still look good i wonder? |

| Re: Corsa Turbo Project WIP When I waxoiled my nova we mixed in old engine oil. Leaves it all tacky so that instead of the paint chipping off when a stone hits it just sticks to it. You won't get water held under the surface either. |

| Re: Corsa Turbo Project WIP UPDATE 9/10/08
Right havent updated this in a while, but its come along rather well
I got that pipe through off ebay, and turned out to be too short so then i had no choice but to go straight to vauxhall themselves
So went there and got a qoute for £110! for one pipe, wasnt happy about it but it was expected to be honest.
So I decided to have a nose around forums and have a look at what oil coolers people where running, Mocal came up alot so purchased the kit off ebay for £110 delivered.
So that arrived not long ago:
Compared to the old one:
And fitted:
Trial fitted the sandwich plates, with the new filter to check out clearence
Has been refitted better after this picture was taken, had trouble with oil leaking from the senders but finally got that sorted using some copper washers and some thread locking tape.
And finally filled it up with some new Vauxhall Oil, which makes it run a treat, it really is worth forking out for the GM oil, no tapping what so ever
Also had my matching Auto Gauge Oil Pressure Gauge Turn up
Should be fitted tomorrow along with the Oil Temp Gauge.
Whilst the car was in the air i noticed the track rod ends looking sorry for themselves so sorted them out asap
And the new one fitted:
Should be back on floor tomorrow with the gauges wired up and fitted.
MOT ran out a few days ago so thats next on the list of things to do, so should be back on the road sooner than expected |

| Re: Corsa Turbo Project WIP Anyway, got back from work not long ago, got straight to work on it moved the sensors around and refitted the bumper and wheels.
The gauges in position
And turned on..
Think Im gonna relocate the boost gauge to the A pillar as Im not a fan of it in the heater vent like that.
Took it out for a quick spin literally up and down the road a couple of times to check for any problems, and none what so ever
And a pic of the front with the oil cooler on show
And a pic of it back on all 4
Had abit of a shock when i came to a stop and smoked just poured up from the engine bay:|
Luckily its just the left over ****ty oil which went everywhere when the oil cooler pipe burst, so everythings seems to be sorted:thumbs:
Just got to fit a new bonnet cable and catch and then its MOT time as it runs out today:lol: |

| Re: Corsa Turbo Project WIP UPDATE 6/11/08
This will be handy for everyone who has bonnet pull problems, as you may have read the bonnet cable came out not too long ago, purchased a second hand one but still the handle kept popping off inside and the cable was really tight, so I purchased a new one off ebay for a tenner and it now works a treat, also comes with a fancy black handle
Quick pic of it in the garage, been in there for so long and its damn filthy
I promised myself I wouldnt move onto exterior or interior until all the engine and chassis are sorted but got offered a swap with my other badgless grill so I did the swap and ended up with a set of these.
Its MOT time next week, Im looking forward to my failure slip:thumbs:  |
