New Engine for the Astra

Well after the puddle incident I finally found some time for the workhorse Astra, it was initially thought I had bent a couple of rods so started the strip down.

This is when it got expensive, both cams had lobes that were covered in corrosion

And once the inlet was off I checked to see how much water she had swallowed...

Yes that is puddle water running out How much?

This much!

So after conceding the engine was to far gone and not economical to repair I took delivery of my new one

It came from a 51 plate veccy quoted as having 51k miles but the date stamp on the block is 04 Bargain.

Out with the old.

And in with the new.

And its in

Just some wiring to finish off tomorrow and it "should" be back on the road
