TD shed respray and tart up!

Well it all starts somewhere! This is my corsa TD as it stands today. But not for much longer! Bought it as a runaround but selling my RS turbo, and thought what the hell, I'll try and get this little beast (lol) looking presentable!

Hope to have it looking smooth, and low. Not going for huge speed or anything, just fancy a project.
Started to strip it tonight, got all bumpers and arch moldings off to smooth and colour code. Ordered a boot smooth panel from fleebay.

Anyone any experience with these panels, are they a doddle or will I be cuting and filling for hours?! Anyway, WATCH THIS SPACE!

Re: TD shed respray and tart up!

dude, get a photobucket or flickr account, then use them to upload and publish the pics.
flickr is really easy - use the little program - you drag the photos in, set it to auto-resize in the settings and upload, piss easy !. Then copy the image address and paste it into here.

Re: TD shed respray and tart up!

Cheers DJ thats much easier than the other crap I was using!!!
Did a fair amount today, removed bumpers and arch mouldings and primed them (high build) so that i can rub them down and colour code them.
Started to prep the car, might strip it completely tomorow, doors bonnet boot etc so that i can spray the door shuts in my garage, put the doors back on and take it to work to finish it in the booth.
Anyway, what does everyone think? I was thinking black, does anyone know the paint code for black corsa's?(solid colour used on old sri's)

CORSA TD euro WIP

Had to do a scrap yard delve today so didnt really get very far on the car. I thought the original front wings were salvagable but once i got them off it was clear that they were toast!!
So a corsa merit had to give up its (not too good) wings.
One is ok (o/s) but the n/s has a fair bit of corrosion, nothing that cant be sandblasted though!

The corsa that donated its wings!

Re: TD shed respray and tart up!

The wings both had bad rust in the same place, on the second clip that holds the arch on. Weird water trap i guess!

I'm goin for euro look, smooth and low on 15s with really skinny rubber!
I really want to rename this thread to: Corsa TD euro look wip.
If there are any moderators reading i would appreciate it!
Cheers, keep watchin!

Re: TD shed respray and tart up!

My boot panel arrived today, and i've got to say i'm not impressed!
I'ts gonna need a skim of filler over the whole thing to start with, cracks and dimples everywhere. All the corners are chipped.

Do you think I got ripped off? £31 with delivery?

Someones chipped the corner and just stuck some filler on it, didnt even sand it!

Re: TD shed respray and tart up!

Yeah i suppose you're right £31 is cheap enough!

I paid £20 for both my wings, but I got delocked colour coded handles from a vectra aswell, they go for an easy tenner on fleebay!
I would rather get a second hand wing in reasonable nick than a replicated panel though, I've had some real ball aches with cheap panels!! If it fits though, for £16 your well lucky!!!

Be nice to local scrappy, use him as frequently as you can afford lol and it will pay off.

I could go to my scrap yard at 10 at night needing a part desperately, and I know it would be kosher.

Anyone know the paint code for black corsa B sri's?

There are a few in the book!!

Stripped most of the car ready for prep and paint in the shuts.
Everything came off really easy, I'm used to fords and Vaux's are sooo much easier to work with!!!

Just got to borrow tools from work to remove the doors then i'll be making a start.

Re: TD shed respray and tart up!

Got my boot to work and took the rear window out to fit the flush panel. The fit is pants!!!:

This was taken with it clamped to the boot!!

So then I had to cut a strip off the top and try to line it up a bit better, got a load of filler work to get it to look factory!
Underneath the strip is my wondow seal, it had been glued to the window!

Re: TD shed respray and tart up!

Just a small update and wheel question, havent done much cos it was my 21st last week woo!
Attached the boot flush panel with wurth super bond stuff and contersunk screws!
Got it flat to the boot but i've got a lot of filler work to do because everywhere theres a screw theres a recess, but o think itll be a better finish this way.

Got some 16" tsw venoms, need a refurb, they are 7j wide and et40, they really stick out and i'm goin to drop it 60mm hope they fit!! will they?

Are jamex 60mm spring and strut kits any good? £130 seems cheap?

Just drill some new holes and stick some self-tapping screws through, that's how I'm doing mine.

Re: TD shed respray and tart up!

Well i havent really done much on the car lately. 21st bday and tryin to gather the patience to sand all the f in filler on the boot lol!
Primed and flatted the front, back bumper, arches, mirrors, and gettin bonnet etc ready for bringing the whole car in for paint.

Bonnet turned out to be rusty as the titanic under the paint.

Got some 16inch venoms, started to prep them and took a picture of one on the car with my mate jumpion on the back, apologie for crap pic.
Could anyone photoshop some onto a black corsa? lowered 60mm?

Let me know what you think, ta

i love venoms. they are great. shockingly bad about 8-10 years ago. but now there great again. even vauxhall copied em by the looks of the vectra vxr alloys. are you leaving arches stock are going for the wide ones?

Good work you are really going to town on it! I think you should splash out on some speedlines for it, they suit corsas to the ground!

The arches will be standard but smooth and colour coded, yeah Ive gotta say I wasnt keen on venoms until they started gettin a little rarer, and for £50 for a full set with 2 good yoko's I couldn't say no!
With new paint on the wheels and car and a decent drop I think (hope!) it will look good.

Speedlines have been done to death i think, I do like em dont get me wrong, but i'm hoping this will look a bit fresher? Dunno, If theres majority vote to get rid of the venoms once their on then i'l ditch them, maybe get some cesaro's, But I think these'll work.

P.s if anyone can photoshop 16in venoms on a black corsa with 60mm drop please do!!
