Wide arch Mk2 Astra long term project

My mate Russ (Roozla) has finally started doing a bit to the rolling shell he got several years back I thought I'd post up a few photos to see if it kickstarts him into doing any more. lol
It's an old valver that a bodywork firm started modding and never finished. It came with an obscenely fitted full safety devices weld in cage which needs completly re-doing but at least it's got one. They had intended to fit a V6 as did Russ but as yet he's unsure of what lump to use. As ever the budget is virtually zero but he's having a go anyway
At the moment the plan is to stitch in the cozzy 4x4 tunnel, use a sierra 4x4 gearbox and replace the vx diff with a ford item, adapting the calibra 4x4 rear end to accept it. Depending on how things go it could end up being rwd only tho, nothings set in stone.
Originally the plan was to just make some mounts for a rear axle.

It didn't get far tho as this turned up.

So the cage got removed and a bit of extra floor with it.

This turned up too, seems a shame not to use it?

The front ends been modified by the previous owners a fair bit already.

At the mo the rear end has just been started to be stuck in place.

Next update probably in 2011 if anyones interested?

Paul.

Its cost has been minimal so far to be honest, just grinding/cutting discs, wire and the initial cost of the car so far As for engines thats undecided as yet, it'll depend on future funds when and if they become available and the pokiest thing we can find for the money lol
Must admit I do like the car too, always been fond of the mk2's. It's in pretty good nick too considering its an old D plater.

Re: Wide arch Mk2 Astra long term project

Hopefully there will be a few more updates soon!
Hey Paul hows it going? The workshop is shared between 4 mates at the mo, Russ is one of them. Not ideal as the floors sloping and its rippled concrete. Great fun with a v6 and auto box swinging off an engine crane I can tell you lol Drier than Russ's driveway tho
Theres another project in there too. Tony's stitching his cozzy paneled escort onto a shortened sierra floorpan. Not for the faint hearted lol

Cheers Ginge It'd go a long way I can tell you!
You can tell from Russ's daily runner that he's eternally optimistic

Either that or really desperate Pity who ever responsible can't spell lol
Going to do a bit more welding tomorrow as I have the day off, after I've fixed my old mans exhaust anyway
