Semi right, 2 liners were changed, head was Pooled, standard pistons with mirror polished crowns. Noble are setting it up on Friday. It beats whatever Jap ****e you have bought this time? Stick to tuning your horse and trap with pesticides on the carrots with a 10 shot of fertiliser. Gayer.

Least 40s wouldnt melt the engine... again.

Exactly my point

Well done Wayne.

I still miss my 5 GTT but not its appetite for optimax or its crap running on startup. Wouldn't have another though I don't think.

How does the fueling work? Is it just very rich at low boost?

Has fuel pressure regulator so as boost increases the fuel pressure increases.

As it runs in car adjustable boost, yes you are correct. I will just get the actuator set for about 22 PSI then it will go down to 15 IIRC.

It really has a certain something the R5GTT, yes; the engine was invented before fuel and they're a little bit less reliable than a 48 year old alfa... that's on fire. But still.. they have that special something, when hot hatches were the bollocks! GTEs, 205 GTIs, RS turbos, R5GTTs, magic stuff!

It's booked in for the MOT tomorrow, my Dad has spent almost all day on it sorting various things whilst I was at work, including cleaning it inside and out!

Been trying to sort the sidelights this evening and some playing with the Morettes has the sidelights and main beam sorted on the outer lamps, just got to remove the O/S inner lamp in the morning before dropping it off for 8am or so.

Check Billy sodding Connely here; Drives '1990 Cav GSI!' You must think Mo Mowlam is horny and Christina Aguilera is a pigdog?

There is one born every minute. I wish I had a car that is now renowned as a tired old cheap rep ripper rather than a bonafide recognised classic hot hatch. Damn, look at me turning green - not!

Epic fail. I thought the brakes would clean up with a few stamps, even after going about 5 miles they hadn't. I got it there and on the last left junction before the place my front left indicator stopped working and when I got to the MOT place it pissed it's water out! Oh well, better luck next time.

Water jacket return on the turbo.

TBH I am not as gutted as I thought I would have been. Obviously it won't be getting set up at Noble Motorsport on Friday anymore and won't be on track at Trax but it means that I can have it really sorted before using it;

*New drivers door.
*New tailgate.
*New grill.
*New bonnet.
*Get rid of the horrible mesh in the bumper, get it back to standard looking and spray it.
*Sort the Morettes as the N/S had a vent put in as in the picture below but when I removed it there was a load of fibreglass filler there which had previously been used to house a piece of mesh so I couldn't fit the inner lense back in. I removed the O/S inner as a result and had just the outers running dipped and main beam.
*Clear the crap off the brakes.
*Get the exhaust sitting properly so it doesn't try to do a clangers impression on the back bumper.
*Get the valve clearances set.
*Maybe some different wheels - White MO's?
*Maybe fling the nitrous on it by tapping the alloy lobster back inlet?

It didn't break as such. You always get niggly problems after a rebuild and especially when a car has been stood and open to the elements for almost 2 years.

I even drove it home this evening, popped a litre of water in and off I went as my Mum was following me back until my local country road then the R5 got 'opened up'. The new turbo is far more usable, even though not exactly on song it boosts a lot earlier than the previous effort which was as flat as a flys fart until 5k RPM.

My Dad keeps saying to get rid and after driving his Lotus VVC engined Metro this morning I was almost tempted until I sat at work and thought about it for 10 hours!
