Progress thread: Nautilus Blue Vegas 2.0 16v...

Copied over from CS for the people on MIG to see

Thought i'd make a thread showing everything i've done to my Corsa since I got it in Jan 2005.

Started out as a Standard 1.2 Corsa that had spent its life in Tooting, London. I picked it up for £1145 in Eastleigh, near Southampton. It had 77,000 Miles on it and I spent my first money getting the cambelt changed.

Here are the earliest pictures I have of it:

mmmm... Orange side repeaters, hub caps and badges.

I started with new number plates and an alpine head unit.

Next up, after seeing Rhino's Rio Verde Sport (Now owned by Stoneyginger/Ali). I got on the search for some Corsa C SXi Rims. Eventually found a set local for £160. Put them on in the dark  and got some pics the next day.

Riding High!

Next up was Nova Springs . Put them on with the standard shocks and drove it for ageeeees. I loved it with these, handled really nicely considering the "setup" .

Painted the drums, the day before PVS 2005...

Trax 2005:

Set of Toyo Proxes T1-R's and a Post-97 Front bumper from Rob B were fitted to the car. Changing the bumpers was one of my favourite visual mods I did!:

Couldn't believe my luck when I saw a smashed up Corsa Capital sitting in my Local Scrappy. Snapped up a mint Rear bumper for £30! Also got the punto wiper somewhere along the line!

A set of the DEPO smoked headlights off eBay:

FK Coilovers were next. I love these, Really good mod. Car handles and moves really nicely with them on!

The day we fitted them. Never been so cold. :|

Shredded a tyre with the Camber out...

Borrowed the Cav Rims:

WINTER! I HATE SALT!

Time for a new exhaust. Opted for the Blueflame 6x4 Oval. Sounds really nice. Pleased with it!

I've added a Sport Interior in drips and drabs for quite a while now. Just have to finish the Electiric windows and Door cards now!

Pics of by sub box. Have a Vibe amp to power the sub, which you can't see:

Delivered a few phone books to fincance Irmscher rear Lights from Rob B:

Got the Lights and Spoiler (Where are the SXi Rims?! :!):

There they are! Also notice the small plate I picked up at Trax 2006.

That's pretty much my car. There's a few little things I haven't mentioned, like the brakes from a 16v Calibra, Pipercross Air Filter, Sport Carpet and Interior Plastics.

I have obtained a Calibra, and have it ready for a conversion, as and when I can afford to do it (Insurance Wise). I'm slowly building up a collection of conversion bits, and I want some work done on the engine before it goes near my car.

I've never been in debt with this car, and i don't want to be, So i'm trundling along at my own pace and will eventually get the work done. I've done all the stuff by getting money working in a Supermarket.

Thanks for taking the time to look at the thread! I'll keep you all updated

Phil

UPDATE: 12-December: Electric Windows/Front Components and the rest of the interior Sorted!:

Started with Stock Doorcards/Windows:

This is some pics of it all finished!

Update: 23-January

Spent Sunday getting the XE engine out of the Calibra! More and more new parts arriving daily! Impressed with that!

M-Tech Fitting Kit should be waiting for me when I get home. Result! Loads of service parts have arrived too!

Calibra Engine Removal Thread!

Re: Progress thread: Nautilus Blue Vegas 2.0 16v...

EDIT: 30-March

Haven't done this in long  The XE is now fitted in the Corsa, and all seems to be going reasonably well - Have done about 800 miles init now and seems to be ok!

The Conversion Process Thread - From start to finish!

Here was the pile of service and conversion bits I collected for my conversion:

First day - Corsa looking sorry for itself:

Mounting up:

Poor quality pic of the engine mounted up and wired/plumbed in:

Cleaned it after a month ready to be trailered and sent to Powerflow:

Took it to Powerflow, where they made me up a custom exhaust system that doesn't rattle/bang or squeak. So it's worth every penny

Now it's back on the road, and i'm loving it at the moment! It has the bumpers and wheels back on, but I haven't got many pictures, only this one of the 2.0 Trio

UPDATE: 25-July - Sent to the bodyshop on the 9-July:

at the car in this state, She's off to the bodyshop to get spruced, repainted and to come back! Loads of bits to buy.

I've bought a 1.6 Sport which i'm driving at the moment, hoping to see the car back again after my holiday in a couple of weeks time! Can't wait!

There has been a delay in the shop because of a few unavoidable circumstances. Hoping to see it back soon enough though - And it will be better than ever

Update: 16-AUGUST - Pics from bodyshop! Wooooooo!!

Re: Progress thread: Nautilus Blue Vegas 2.0 16v...

UPDATE: 29/10 - Summer 2007:

Got the car finished on the night before Trax at 9pm, so we were cutting it a bit fine there! Got it back the night before.

So anyway quick rundown of what was done at the bodyshop. Full respray in the original Nautilus Blue, Bumper tops and arches colour coded grey, Semi-smooth boot, Aerial Removed, Roof Rails and Handles colour coded, Rub Strips removed.

I'm dead chuffed with the results, Here's a couple of pics from Trax. Cheers to everyone that commented on the car when I was there, was great fun to finally show it off!

Looooooow:

Here's some pics from the Eurofest action day at Combe:

Car also got it's first (sort-of  ) pic in Total Vauxhall, beside a LET Astra.

Showing with Who? :look:

Day was awesome fun, got to give the 3-week old paint a shakedown on the track... Taking it easy then

 To everyone I met on that day too!

Track pics by Benn

Afterwards some scumbag keyed the rear quarter panel, and a couple of problems with the paint came up so it's back to the bodyshop to be sorted out! Also had another set of manual mirrors painted (I messed mine up/dropped one) Whoops...

Bought a new Alpine Head Unit for the car too. Walked into Sextons Southampton and Ed sorted me out with a top-notch CDA-9887R for £295 with the iPod Cable. Features of the headunit include 4x60w Speaker Output, Bluetooth, iPod Full Speed, Imprint Sound plus the usual Alpine GUI and features . Also bought an ipod (Welcome to the Millenium Phil...) So I can junk CD's in the car now! Quality!

What's next? Well I don't know... I want new wheels, interior, bigger brakes, and there's that guy round here with the Nova Turbo - Maybe he needs some competition? :look:

UPDATE: 29-November

Little update to see how she's getting on. It's not been used for a while now as i'm using the blue sport over winter.

Woke up the cold and grumpy XE for a wash though... C'mon!

New ARB on the rear. Not much ground clearance hehe!!

The new Headunit, amazing buy! 9887R from Sextons in Southampton.

I put my SXi rim back on today too, had to get a new tyre (Once i'd tracked down an Eagle F1 in Germany...) Was gutted, because the old one had hardly been used when I found an abandoned For Sale sign at 4am

UPDATE: 14-FEB

Trial fitting the D90's

Personally I LOOOOOOOVE it

UPDATE: 23-AUGUST

Quick update of the year so far.

Not a lot has changed for the Corsa, Luckily now I have got myself a company car. Means the Corsa can spend a lot longer in the garage and not having the hard life it's usually had over the last 3 years.

Spent some cash on the new wheels which have been fitted. Polished D90's look the part and get a fantastic response at the shows.

Here she is at Combe in April. Donning the SXi wheels this was it's first outing in a while, and it didn't mind having the **** kicked out of it going round the track. Get in!! Was also a great laugh in the pissing rain too.

Finally got the wheels of my dreams earlier in the year aswell.

http://www.corsasport.co.uk/board/vi...php?tid=405975

Polished Porsche D90 wheels wrapped in awesome Pirelli P-Zero Nero Rubber. Size matters here, and the low profile I had makes the difference. 195/40/16 Looks the part and gives a slight stretch on the rear without looking silly.

Pics from the trial fitting before the cash swapped hands...

In fairness, after seeing it I had decided in my mind what I wanted. Robin's immediate reply...

...and a CS poll of 135 "Yes" votes to 41 "No" sealed the deal, the cash swapped hands.

Detailing:

Car was detailed to have the paint corrected (Covered in swirls - Was quite disheartening to see). Now it's all been corrected i'm nervous as fook when washing it. Constantly buying new wash mitts at the moment. Cleaning is an expensive habit! Ha!

Pics below show some of the swirling and the state of the laquer (Misty) before the work was done. Car looks so much more vibrant now and the colour is much much deeper.

PVS 2008:

Car got it's usual good response at PVS. Shame the stand location was a bit ****e this year...

Cheers to everyone that took pics:

Took it up the strip, and it was playing up a bit.

On the way home noticed the engine temps getting hotter and hotter the faster I drove it. Not so good. HG fail

Cleaned it all up niceley and got jiggy with some Waxoyl.

Thanks to Dan/Benn on Mig for fitting me in and sorting out the HG.

And the best bit (Smells awesome):

Came next day delivered from the champions at Elite Car Care! Would definatley recommend them. http://www.elitecarcare.co.uk/

Can't wait to get involved with that. Will keep her nice and shiney!

Had the HG replaced last weekend. Just picked up new CV boot, Wheel bearing and brake pads to fit in time for Combe next month. Race is on as usual then. Then going to whack the SXI's on for a bit and smoke it around!
