My XEd Lada 2108

hi to all members of Mig. my name is George i live in Republic Georgia. first of all please sorry my mistakes in my bad english. i don't speak well so.. i'll try to tell about my project detailed as i can
so .. i year ago i decided to build "monster" car to kick asses of rich guys who thinks that Merc CLK is best Car in the world Or even BMW 328 :P it is the fastest car...
So. Lada is known as worst car in my country (and not only here) so i decided to buy some and build it on 20Xe engine..
so 1 year ago in august i bought Lada 2108 1987 year model with damaged Engine for 600$ and bought Donor car Calibra Xe with 250 000km on the clock for 500$

i'll tell specs of stock Lada 2108
engine 1500cc, 70HP 107Nm
weight 900kg without driver
0-100 -

when i took off engine from calibra i saw that block was cracked so i had to buy new block pistons etc...

here is pick of Lada when i bought it

and here is donor calibra

started undressing

then tryed to put XE in Lada

i got problem with drifeshafts anc CVs i decided to fit front side (suspension) from Vaux.

took vaux absorber to machine it to fit on lada
on pic you can see Difference between Vaux sport GAS absorber (yellow) and Lada stock absorber (black)

to put this i had to cut big parts from car body (sorry for bad quality pics)

finally it can stand and roll

Then started build rollcage for safety

i used front Brakes ATE From Vaux 2.0 16V and rear brakes from some audi (disk brakes)
after "finishing" body work i started engine rebuild.
bought another cylinder block.. bored it 86.5 bought new pistons, rings, bearings etc...

here are pics of head

polish instruments

cleaned head and block

ready to build
balanced piston and rod weight..

i used oem Type pistons, oem valves, rods, valve springs. titanium valve caps, oem cam folloevers, oem Camshafts.

i wanted to build car as soon as possible because of Drag race on May 2008
so i have not done anything with Exterior.. car looked like Frankenshtain.
after 3000km of slow driving.. i changed oil and started Hard test run.
it was great.

with Xe my cars weight was 920kg
so finally i started testing with some cars.
here are some vids.
in this video Car has totally stock specs. i mean TB, ECU..even exhaust was from lada 40mm and Gearbox F16CR 3.55

http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=_F31Lt0gZNE

it was hard for me to run away from BMW E39 528

then i changed changed TB from 60mm To 82

added adjustable FPR, remaped ECU and had test run.. (exhaust still 40mm)

http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=u6ew0lsS4A8&NR=1

it was runing like Good healthy BMW 328.

then i changed **** lada Exhaust from 40mm to 65mm free flow.
changed Gearbox from F16CR 3.55 to F16CR 3.72 set rev limiter to 8200RPM adjusted Air fuel ratio. remaped ecu and went to Drag race.

i had to run in B class 1900-2300 CC...
done 6 runs without any fail. and i won 1st place
final Race was with modified Honda CRX 1.6 DOHC V-tec as owner said it has 190Bhp
here is vid.
http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=PHiOFbsB30o

then in june added custom made by myself air intake sytem
bought brand new slicks from Bridgestone.

and went to Armenia / Yerevan on drag race...

there i broke gearbox mount. and MAF sensor

fixed gearbox mount in 20min.. but MAF was dead... because of that engine was not working propertly...
i had to run with BMW 535 with performance inlet / exhaust + camshafts
here is video
http://nl.youtube.com/watch?v=iLX9Es9p6h8

everybody was shocked - HOW? HOW COULD LADA WON RACE ?
returned to Georgia @ home..
decided to change ECU.. from OEM to Megasquirt
i bought and add it.. started engine.. but it was runing much better than on oem ecu..
checked compression and got
10 10.5 7 10 (bar)
decided to change piston rings, clean valves, head. and check bearings..
i found scratches on Rod bearings.. i took it to machine it.
after fiew days engine rebuild has been done.. then i undressed my Lada and started paint job (by my self) hehehe

painted clean white

then decided car to be painted in two collors
yesterday have done job

thread will be updated as soon as ill do something new.

cheers

Its, erm, different, but fair play! I like it, using a Lada as a base for a project. Should certainly turn heads!

Re: My XEd Lada 2108

It might sound a stupid idea , but drill a hole in your intercooler pipe , then cover it with some rubber hose and clamp it , so it will not leak , and then put a micro switch over it. So the pressure will force the rubber hose to expand and will switch on the fifth injetor And sorry for hijacking your thread.
