Re: my "other" project
Nice.
I've got one as a track day toy.
Black 1.9 with the early (ali block) Mi16 recently rebuilt. Installed correctly so not at an angle and no mods to intake.
Audi throttle body (bigger).
Longman exhaust manifold.
1.6 gearbox with Mi16 5th gear.
Gaz coilovers.
309 rear beam 9rebuilt) with bigger torsion bars and ARB, and 309 front wishbones and driveshafts.
Gti6 front brakes (work very well!)
Poly bushes.
Gear linkage (metal socket and ball, & clipped), and quickshift.
Group a solid mounts on rear beam.
Large bore exhaust.
Wiper mounted washer jets (so they work when driving fast).
It'll also get my fueling system (swirl pot, pumps and braided lines), and a plumbed in extinguisher.
Just ordering a full cage (multipoint), some buckets (and stripping everything oput of car) and poly windows and then a little bit of engine work to get 180bhp and I'll leave it like that.
My mate took it for an MOT yesterday and called me on teh way back. Told me it'd passed but I wasn't getting the car back as he was having great fun in it. Kinda nice to hear it not just me that thinks it's good - as he's had/built many types of fast and racing cars. lmao

Re: my "other" project
small update without pics, had a bit of a hard time getting anything done of late with commitments and other peoples cars taking up a lot of my time, got a reconditioned master cylinder and fitted up the brake pipe unions to that, made up the braided brake hose from the master cylinder to the bulhead so the rear lines are now complete bar the connection to the calipers but I've just ordered the hose for that.
also made up some carbon fibre blanks to go over some holes where the rear lamps bolt in and rivetted them in at the top for now until the lamps are fitted, made up the mould for the bonnet too which I hope to be releasing sometime tomorrow, it's the first large panel I've cast so I'm hoping it goes ok.
maybe some pics in teh morn...
