My mk3 astra sport let

Hiya guys

I have just got my hands on my first astra turbo, its a mk3 sport 3 door with caly turbo lump fitted.

I dont know anything about let engines so il probably be asking loads of questions lol.

At the mo its still needs finishing off and is in a bit of a state but does run off boost.

Before i ask any questions il try and read up on them abit, my main problem for now is that the car cuts out on full boost.

It doesnt have a boost gauge fitted at the mo so unsure what boost its running, cant find any bleedvalve's but the actuator rod might have been wound out.

pics will be added shortly

Re: My mk3 astra sport let

Manged to rig up a boost gauge and it was trying to run over a bar which would explain the cutting out.

Tried winding rod to lower boost and the rod snapd, so today im getting that sorted and hopefully getting it to run 5-8psi.

After that il be buying a 3 bar fpr as i currently have a 2.5 bar one fitted for some reason.

I spoke to a guy who is clued up on these engines and the 1st gear switch is the brown wires i found;-) so il be briding them.

Re: My mk3 astra sport let

Hy Paul,I answered your question at the other section with engine problems.Nice engine you have.At your C20LET the vacuum hose is that cream hose wich is came from the FPR and it's finishing in the inlet manifold I presume.I marked with red your vacuum hose from your engine.
What are your plans with this engine?Good luck with the upgrades

Re: My mk3 astra sport let

why are you going to bridge the 1st gear cables? would it not think it is in 1st all the time and cut the boost?

Re: My mk3 astra sport let

Hiya Salfkm

My plan are to get the car road legal and running sweet i would like to reshell into a mk2 astra gte but for now just get everything running tickidy boo ;_)

Bridging the first gear switch is supposed to limit how much boost is run in first im new to these engine so maybe someone knows different but thats what i thought.

Re: My mk3 astra sport let

Ive been trying to get the car ready for mot and so farr i have taken off rear lights that were sprayed black and used white spirit and a rag to bring them back to std.

Ive also removed that stupid splitter that kept rubbing on everything including driving along flat roads pmsl.

I have also removed the painted front indicators and white spirited them too;-)

Ive also had my actuator rod modified sorted as it snapd the otherday trying to adjust it up, so now i should have more traval in it as its been exstended.

Re: My mk3 astra sport let

Took car for mot today it failed on 16 things lol i have fixd 9 of them today apart from

1)exhaust has major leak (exhaust 3 tubes welded togther from turbo) i will have to get a whole system made up, not sure what the best way of this is maybe buy a mk3 gsi exhaust and butcher that?

2 & 3)strut top mounts need replacing both sides.

4 & 5)power stearing inoperative and is leaking.

6)exhaust emissions carbon monoxide content after 2nd fast idle excessive.

7)exhaust emissions lambda reading after 2nd fast idle outside specified limits.

Ive been quoted £120 for a mate to fit power stearing pump, strut top mounts, and replace the seal on my rack that has gone on the end if i supply him with all bits inc another rack for him to get seals from.

I didnt think the seals were fixable on stearing rack?

What have you guys done for exhausts sytem on your mk3 astras, is there an off the shelf pipe you can buy that goes from turbo to standard gsi system or to middle box?

Thanks Paul.
