the D from BE!

Hi all,

found this forum via via, and seemed interesting to put my little 'project' on.
first a bit of the story

My name is andy De smet i'm 20 years old and i live in Belgium (near brussels).

After driving with a VW Golf 3 for a year it was time for something new. during the Auto show in brussels i spotted the Astra GTC and the Corsa D as potential substitute's, although i was sold to the Hyundai Coupé! unfortunate, the coupé was out of reach for me, buying it was no problem, but getting it insured wouldn't be easy !
The astra GTC was way to populair and i wanted something more... unique so it would be the Corsa D!

Bought it a week later and got delivered to me two months later on march the 3rd !
in the following state:

After a year it was time for some updating. i got to see more D's on the road and it was less unique, so i started modding it to the way I like it! first up where some rimms

18" Akuma Mars wheels with 215/35/18 tires with Roadstone tires (Yokohama's soon !)
it looked like this!

But then it all when't wrong, driving home from work i got cut off by some idiot, forced me to throw my car into another lane, wich eventually i ended up in someon's behind! leaving me with this:

during the repairs i vissited the garage a few times, this was during one of them:

Then after two weeks of driving a Daewoo i finally got her back. during the repair i decided to let the garage mounth a Lexmaul front grille u bought a few weeks before i crashed in essen, germany

After that it was the beginning of a new Meeting season and just before the first one started, i decided to lower the car... and i mean really lower it!
i chose a Weitec Adjustable suspension and turned it alllll the way down what made getting in my garage a real hell

Driveway wasn't that easy to

but it was quite ok on the road

After a long time not updating i decided to get my some Angel eyes, from lion tuning
unfortunate untill today the lights did not arrive it my place yet so i can't show you anything of that yet

but no fear... after a two weak vacation in mexico, i decided to do a little update that costs no money at all, and is really easy to do it yourself! i removed the side mouldings!

and this is how she looked last friday on a meeting:

i also have a music install but still working on getting it build in decently!

so what more do i have planned?
  • Angel eyes
  • Leather interior
  • New manifold (pipercross)
  • Airfilter (K&N)
  • New exhaust (Skytune)
  • New tires (Yokohama)
  • Build in the ICE install
  • Chiptune the engine for better result with manifold (Unichip)
  • New Radio (Pioneer AVIC with GPS)
  • Carbon Fiber overlay on some interior parts (no sticker! the real deal!)
  • Spray some of the engine parts (Grey mettalic colour)
  • Better brakes in front (More HP needs better braking!!)
  • colour code the rear drumms & front brake calipers(Grey)
  • OPC -vxr for you- line bodykit
and that's about it. maybe a few more details that i forgot about
i hope you'll like it and forgive me about my english but i'm from belgian and it's not always that easy to find the right sentence

Absolutely brilliant, looks fab now! really like that new look and the wheels go really tastefully with that, looks a bit like a Euro style. Good work, keep it up.

and you write better English than some of us English speaking.

Re: the D from BE!

it's a real pleasure to read these comments

the suspension really isn't to hard. i don't know if any of you got a KW variant suspension... well it's less hard then that. a bit more comfort, but a little less quality.

i'll keep you guys posted for sure. i'm trying to find out the best way to work with the carbon fibre. i'm home from work next week so i got a whole week to work out the carbon fibre interior. wish me luck

Re: the D from BE!

thanks

at the moment my D is due for maintenance and repair!
the clutch pedal has some problems. two weaks ago a girlfriend of me drove the car while i was in mexico, during that time a spring jumped from under one of the pedals. when i got the message i emediatly knew it was gonna be the clutch

after vissiting my garage last week my taught's where confirmed. the Return spring of the clutch pedal broke into 2 pieces and it seemed to be a production fault! a call back of the Corsa D models is going to be starting soon!

i can bring the car in for repairs on monday and i will have it back on tuesday! meantime i'll be driving a Vectra Break!

Re: the D from BE!

with regards to the carbon fibre - do you have any experience laminating composites? I'd strongly suggest maybe having a few practice goes with stuff less expensive than carbon (glass fibre, kevlar) just to get the feel of what's involved - as if it goes wrong you'll waste a lot of money

Re: the D from BE!

ok i already said the clutch spring had been broken a few weeks ago, wel today i finally got her in for repairs. i'll get her back by tonight. the reason i'm not doing it myself is because i still have 6months of warranty left and it would be kinda stupid to do it myself then héh.

in the meantime i'm driving one of the garage's their cars... A vectra caravan 1.9CDTI

look a like:

Looks very nice indeed, amazing how lowering a car can make it look very different.

Top work.
