Small update Got my painted rocker and cambelt covers back from the paintshop, had them done the same colour as the car and Im well pleased with them, these pics dont do them any justice at all
Started to tidy up the F28 too, steam cleaned it and a few coats of hammerite smooth silver
Should have the 2wd conversion kit and new drive shaft/input shaft seals this week.

| Re: My Astra GSi project Excellemt project car, look forward to the progress.
Just out of interest (I have a 2.0 Ecotec Sport) what's the advantage of fitting a Calibra turbo master cylinder compared to standard gsi one?
Does it give more pressure / harder pedal? I use my Astra on Track days with a V6 vectra upgrade and the pedal gets quite spongy when they get hot. |

| Re: My Astra GSi project Been doing a bit on the engine over the weekend, got the gearbox off and took the clutch and flywheel off to discover I was right about the rear crank seal leaking !
Nice and oily lol
Yup !
Then got it on the stand to remove the sump and fit the new 8v gasket/baffle plate.
Decided to fit ARP rod bolts whilst Its apart why not hey
Finally gave the sump a good clean and fitted a new oil seal to the level sensor as it was also leaking from there.
F28 almost ready to go in, 2wd conversion kit, new driveshaft seals, and modded F20 quick shift all fitted
Going to be having a go at making a custom steel rear mount soon to avoid any breakages
Waiting on the front mounting bracket and release bearing fork to show up now. Just hope the box is a good `un !
ARP rod bolts arrived, will be fitting these this week along with new bigend shells, just need to get the crank measured to check the size.
Cleaned out all the bolt holes for the sump bolts suprising how much crap came out lol
And sorted out how I want the Electronic clocks to be like, combination of GSi rev counter and fuel/temp gauges fitted with the red needles.
More soon ! |

| Re: My Astra GSi project Time for a little update, got my new lightweight billet steel pot flywheel yesterday from vxlgsi
Weighs about 5 kgs which is lighter than a standard flat one ! Now I can use the proper turbo clutch setup and that should be here this week fingers crossed, I will weight the two setups just to compare them.
Glyco bigend bearing shells from steveboyslim , these are the wider type LET ones as I had mistakingly bought XE ones which are thinner so would of been no good to me.
Oil cooler bits, I had bought these to fit to the GTE but never got round to doing it, going to fit the cooler behind the bumper like in the pic so will be losing the foglights and using the hole to make a proper duct for it.
Mocal 16 row 115mm matrix cooler and late type sandwich plate
And a large intercooler, 2.5" inlet and outlets.
Using these to stick the sump gasket and seal the flywheel/sump bolts up.
More soon |
