Found some random photos!
realised i haven't actually got a photo of the car on here - that's the only one i could find!:
in the snooow
before you start with the 'whos the bird' thats my mum
More random stuff - had an unfinished corsa glass fibre bonnet i made last summer, so needing space in the garage i decided to put it to good use: choppy choppy
weldy weldy:
no more ****ty sump :
it was a bit of an experiment for economy purposes, didnt actually make any difference that i could notice!
+the sump was still ****ty a 1000 miles later maybe 8v gasket mod time.

| Re: Tigra c20xe to turbo on Megasquirt wip - lots of pics! because my mum's a nutter she got it off some italian friend, she was used to driving on the other side back at home. Then she wrecked the engine a few times and got fed up with it, and i thought it might be a cheap bit of fun! I'm thinking i might re-shell it if i keep it long enough, get a rhd tig or corsa. Or just break it and get something 'proper' .
meeh, dunno..
it's a european import technically, which kills my insurance ! |

Originally Posted by Tom Williams Great thread, not sure on the number of choc block connections being used though. surely would be better to solder them all? | Do you mean the screw block connector jobbies? If so, yeah i don't like them too, but they're only temporary, when running they're getting done properly - apart from the ones on the relay board, the cables are too thick the cable ends themselves are soldered, so when the screw screws in, it properly mulches the solder and makes a good electrical contact, so it's gonna be ok Quote:
Originally Posted by bowman should convert to rhd without any serious headaches. nice work dude. | Thanks man you know, i did actually thing about it, but if i was to 'make' it rwd, it would be a mid-engine set up with the front subframe in the back kind of thing, i don't like the thought of all that extra weight of the prop, txb and gubbins. And being mid-engined, it would lose it's practicality as a runabout .. +i have no space/time/money Quote:

I'm actuly waiting for a ford coilpack to come through the post right now, but i doubt he's gonna send me the suppressor cap too tbh , i did win it for a £5 on fleabay
Now there's gonna be a bit of a celica, bit of an MR2 and a bit of a fiesta in my engine bay not to mention the mix of different calibras the engine bits came from!!
Also trying to sort out a proper-ish exhaust system for it, HawkerJ on here has one off a scooby made to fit a corsa and apparently it's decent, so might get a day's insurance on my dads passat and go get it.
Though no Cat - any gen on how to prove my engine's age ?! It's out of a 1990 calibra i know for sure, but how to prove it to the mot man ?!?! |

Good look with it all mate its all good fun and feels good knowing youve built the loom and got it running.
Im using a dispack off a ecotec vectra mate aswell, easy enough to get from a scrappy too. |

I don't like the thought of it passing when it blatantly shouldn't, but the car overall is in good nick, just the cat will be the main issue. Quote:

I got my ford coilpack today, tested it on the bench and there's sparks, yay!! Just now i'll need different leads as the coilpack ends are a different plug ffs there's always something in the way of progress!!..
Apparently the Ford coilpacks are better than GM ones, so you can have longer(or shorter) dwell, i cant remember which way round it is, anyone got any info on this ?! Or did i dream it up at some point ?!..
Weekend soon yay, hopefully i'll get it to start |

| Re: Tigra c20xe to turbo on Megasquirt wip - lots of pics! hello miggers!
severe lack of updates at the moment, turns out i have a uni assignment to finish pronto doh!!!
Got my coilpack wired up though and made a bracket for it, also flashed my megasquirt to the MS2 extra code which allows wasted spark and other goodies! After putting the new code on, i find that i'm getting no RPM signal due to having to dial in all the crank trigger stuff again, so left it like that for now...
Also trying to sort out an exhaust at the mo!! There's no custom exhaust place near me so after some window shopping and hours on the phone to different companies i think i'll go for the 2 and 1/4 inch ashley system, seems cheap and will get me on the road! Then ill save up and go for a 3'' system later. 2 1/4 inches will be quite restrictive, but i think it will work with my set-up (low boost etc), and seeing that the standard let downpipe is the same size - the backpressure shouldn't hurt too much. Also after finding a few LET corsas on the various forums running this system at close to 300 bhp, for me at the moment that's plenty good enough
Toying with the idea of chargecooling too. I like the idea that the boost piping would be short so better response too and the fact that i could 'adapt' a bike rad or a rad from a small engined car sounds good to me . Means too that i can apply my water cooling knowledge (i have an over-volted, overclocked, over-raped watercooled PC for my 3d rendering that's running a calibra rad bolted to the case ). The downers are more weight than an FMIC, and more wiring for the water pump . But i can live with those.
Anyway, any ideas or advice on the above is very welcome |

| Re: Tigra c20xe to turbo on Megasquirt wip - lots of pics! lol, sure - for a bit of off topic mincing - here's my Frankenstein!
a fan from the scrappy (for the really hot days)
The processor water block:
graphics card:
water pump:
what's the point i hear you say ?! Well, it was a project for A level d&t at school originally , and in true spirit of me, i made everything myself lol! There were leaks, data loss, pink mess, overheating etc etc, and has had several re-incarnations and this is the latest . Through the years i've replaced a lot of the DIY bits for off the shelf items - so now it's not really that ghetto. apart from the rad LOL!
With the current set up it's been running for the last year and some months, and the point is - you totally can't hear it !! you can just about make out the hard drives, but they're the quietest you can buy and so lots of good nights sleeps are a result .
And for anyone in the know, it busts out a 14 second SuperPi at 1M .
Anyway |

| Re: Tigra c20xe to turbo on Megasquirt wip - lots of pics! Thanks dude, though i think what i wrote was slightly misleading. I ment i'm not getting RPM into megatune, as opposed to the clocks . But you reminded me that i'll have to hook up the tach out at some point, so cheers . Nothing has changed wiring-wise on the VR sensor side of things, so i'm pretty sure it's just megatune that needs setting up properly then im off hopefully |
