Re: eco-spec

simtec 70? whats that off? I think all ours are on 56.5?

How do you go about mapping the simtec? Can you increase the rev limiter too?

Any idea what power youre making?

Re: eco-spec

Simtec is the OE management on mk4 Astras IIRC.

Didnt realise an XE 4 branch manifold fits an Eco either?

everything ecotec uses simtec, justa question fo which version. everything ive ever worked on was 56.5, never even ehard of 70!

the xe 4 branch doesnt fit, you have o cut and weld it to a new flange like 200sx let manifolds

Re: eco-spec

correct xe branch port spacing is spot on so i cut the top and bottom off the flange and got a xev flange lazer cut and welded it all round and in the ports wee buff back and it was minted but u need to run a xe or 8v sump so the 4 branch goes the right way under the block but this is a good mod as u can remove the balance shafts aswell!!!

and astra and vectra use simtec 70 and 90 altho thay are very similar and u can set rev limit to whatever u like the rods/crank is the limit!!

pics soon of port work etc

Re: eco-spec

and when this engine was in my car (cav) it felt a wee bit pokier than my pals gsi cav
and when we had a bit sport thay were the same to about 125 then i started to pull away but that was befor i fitted the 4 branch or put it in a heavie mk4 astra belive power is around 150 but would think it will be alot more when set up on rolling road power delivery is smothe but it realy comes alive at 4500-5000 then hit rev limit at 6200
very soon to be rev limit at 7225 when i get the next map back

Re: eco-spec

i read the standard map with a kwp2000plus flasher. send the map to a tuner with a list of mods and it comes back and i rewright the ecu and jobs a good one
i will look in to my software and see if it covers the 56.5 i know it does the simtec 70 and 90 as i have done both with it with good results but for this engine i think its needing done on a dyno to moniter the a/f better as its a pain driving it as hard as poss while lookin at my j.a.w.

i had a look at a standard map agenst a mod file with a hex editor but u realy need to know what u are doing to f**k about with it u can see changes but u dont have a clue what thay are

Re: eco-spec

This looks quite an interesting wee project

I'm about to dabble in a bit DIY mapping this week. Should be fun.

Re: eco-spec

ahve a look at my old posts had a ecotec up to 185bhp (whilst still detting) on throttle boddies but still needed mapping to set up correctly.
had adjustable pullys on mine set them up to the cam spec then fine tuned on the rollers.
