    Re: Xe'd Kit Car

well after forgetting i had stared this thread as not been on for a long time now as i sold my GSi and bought a VW T5 Transporter i thought id do an update as to wot has happened to my kit car that I'm STILL building.
After putting my money into building this

I thought i should start again with my kitcar, i got it to the stage were my engine was all bolted into and set about fitting the injection system but cam across a problem of the bonnet not fitting so i scrapped that idea and bought

and bought some R1 Carbs and fitted them to my new manifold and engine

Next thing was to fit the Ford Edis system to get it to run and with in a few days she ran.
After a few days of it running i decided to replace my home made exhaust manifold and bought this off EBay

After a few days my nice manifold turned up so i decided to have a go at fitting it but it wouldnt fit as there where parts of the chassis in the way so i had to go about in moving the engine and box back by about 4"

Next on the list was to make sure she ran again and she did

so it was time to fit all the body work properly

After all the body work was secured it was time to get the propshaft shortened so i could now try it up and down the drive and for that small drive it steps the arse end out.
Thats about where she is upto at the min as im in the middle of doing the Digital dash so I'll keep you informed

Looking good but, TBH, that exhaust looks like a rather piss poor job - looks like around 7" difference between #1 and #3, not sure how much variation with #2 and #4.
I'd sell it on and build or buy one that's an equal length primary.

The manifold is a Westfield 1 and your proberbly right about it but I'm on a budget so that's why I bought this 1 but it's got to be better than the 1 I had on before. As for the engine it's all standard with all new parts for the rebuild

Maybe Santa'll bring you one of the nice SBD setups - of course, that only works if you still believe in him...
It's a shame, as it wouldn't have taken much to have made that manifold even length when designing it.
