    Re: Corsa Maxi rally car

The red one is now in Ireland and is being used as a gravel car so im pretty sure its not that pretty now.

Ill get some more pictures when the engine is in and i can push it outside.
Still waiting on ECU, loom, clutch plate and fuel pump. Oh someday....................

The only problem ive found is the back wheel cant tuck under the arch as there is no lip so it gives the impression its riding high (if you know what i mean). I think you do need to run widetrack aswel so the wheels fill the arches otherwise it dont look right.

I have a pic somewhere of the kit with standard track if you interested?

    cheers

Thanks, the only way i would do it is to wide track the car. Seems little point leaving it standard track but fitting wider arches.

I do as well and i am very tempted. Just depends on shafts etc that i would need? Also how is your rear track made wider? I guess its done via moving the stub axle out rather than loading up the bearing via spacers or large offset wheels?

    Re: Corsa Maxi rally car

    Do it mate!!!!

You'd have to get some shafts made up by measuring plunge and what not.
I had to get a set of Astra shafts and cut them in half, then put a tube over the two halfs so that the shaft is extendable. Then mount the box, shafts and hubs. I think an F20 cv has about 30mm of plunge (15mm in 15mm out). I got the plunge right by extended the shaft then welding the tube to keep the shaft in place. Measure the length then got GKN to make them up to length with F20 cv splines.
Also you have to change your strut bodies to something more suitable or you'll run drastic camber. I used the bottom bolt hole on a standard body and then got 0 camber on the hub and worked out i need the top hole 10mm further out.
Sent Proflex a diagram and they made them up for me.
The rear beam was done by Walden (now Clark motorsport) but basically they are a waste of time (false promises).
Yeah it has a piece of box section between the beam and stub axle. I can take some close up pictures if you want?
Its alot of ball ache - i just hope its all worth it when i eventually get it out on a stage!

    Re: Corsa Maxi rally car

Have to agree with you about clarke motorsport. Bought my kit from them sent it back due to it looking like the secretary had made it lmao

The second kit i recieved was of a better quality just took 6 months to long.

Think theres a kit in a eurorallye at the moment.

Do you still have a copy of the diagrams you sent to proflex?

    Re: Corsa Maxi rally car

Yeah Ste - not the best - wont deal with them again.

Ill have to look for the diagrams, although you would be better getting the measurements of your car as there might be slightly different.
Thinking back it was around 10mm for 0 camber. The Proflex runs camber washers on each bolt hole so i can adjust it from that. If you run a strut which doesn't have camber washers then you could make one of the hole elongated or check how much camber you want and then make it permenant.

Its bloody hard to put into words...............lmao

If you get chance please can you measure me the open length on your rear shocks, and the tube length if possible.

    Rick,

The length on the extended strut is 46cm to the top of the spring cup and the body is 23cm. All lengths taken from the very bottom of the strut.
    Why, what you thinking?

Hows the engine coming on Kev? Are you having one of his exhausts? As im tempted......rather than a Tony Law, to try and save some £££££.

Forestfighter, Yeah ill be running a heated screen as the heater matrix has now retired. Plus all the ducting in the dash has been removed.
