    Fantastic video Azmi.

Shame about all the problems! Im sure you'll get there eventually.

I can remember my nova (corsa A) had around 1-2 degree toe in on the back end with a little more toe out on the front. Cant remember exactly but 6 degree toe out is definitely a bit wrong.

    All the best mate

    Re: Corsa Maxi rally car

Just starting to build up a Corsa kit car for national rally purposes. The spec should be (in addition to the welded safety cage); 1,6 / 16V with 220 hp, F-20 dogbox with plate lsd and Astra GSI axles, big brakes, reiger or öhlins suspension with coilovers, front trailing arms from pipe and rear suspension reinforced just to start with I've been looking throught the photos shown here; the cars do look good and give me some idea to build mine as well.

Do you have any photos / dimension / drawings (other than homologation paper) concerning the kit car changes in wheel arches front / rear ? There is some space made for the wheels as well as the upper ends of the suspension has been changed ? The safety cage is already under process, but the other modifications to the chassis need still to be made.

How much wider the car is with Astra axles fitted in front ? How much longer the lower trailing arm needs to be ? This is the same value as need to be done to the upper end.

Any comments and advices would be appreciated

    Best regards

    Esa

Setup for mine is (from Alan at Protec)
    Front
    Tow out 1mm each side
    1.5 deg neg camber (1 to 1.5)

    Rear
1 mm tow out (Upto 6 mm tow out was used on works cars anymore on mine and it was nervous)
    .5 deg neg camber

Hurry up Rob get it finished before the little one lands

    Re: Corsa Maxi rally car

    hello Esa,

I'll get my camera tomorrow for wheel arches, hope the photos will be helpful. Front suspension turret doesn't need any constructional modification. Rear turrets has to be reconstructed to gain space and reinforced to carry that the load comes from coilover suspension if you make the change.

    Regs.

    Re: Corsa Maxi rally car

Thanks a lot, I look forward to see those photos.

I was intending to move the upper end in front outwards a bit, so that the suspension stays in correct position. The movement should be the same amount which the lenght of the lower arm lenghtens.

For the wheels, I used my previous car (FWD 220 hp rallycar) in gravel following setup. Front Camber 0,75-1°, Caster 2,5-3°, toe from 0 to -5 mm (front open) Rear Camber 1,5, toe from 2 mm to 5 mm (front end closed/shorter). If you leave the rear end toe open the car will slide very easily and is very nervous from the back.

    Hello,

    I hope that'll be helpful a bit.

you also have to replace refuelling cap and its pipe to make a space to the right side coilover,

    Re: Corsa Maxi rally car

    Hello Esa,

Actually, there is no additional modifications on the front end more than denoted in homologation form. just some MIG welding to reinforce some spot welded junctions. I have wide track kit with proflex struts and aluminium strut tops with rose joints and of course a strut brace. If you like to see I can take an another camera trip to my garden.

    By the way,

a video from my first finish with this car. After fifteen years of group N driving with standard engine/gearbox, as you could see, I have a little hesitated to gearing down and make some high RPMs. And I experienced a real 1. gear issue, three times it engaged reverse instead of first. After that, I stopped first then shift to first gear. I hope it is an alignment issue. In addition, my first impression with this car is, my sixth gear will be never worn outlmao.

    Azmi
if you are having problems engaging reverse by mistake, you can remove the reverse light switch, and fit a sprung loaded rod to engage with the flat on the reverse gear shaft, as the switch does, and then run a bowden cable back to a bike lever or similar on the gear lever shaft, which you would have to pull to enable reverse to be selected, as the plunger would stop the shaft moving unless the lever has been pulled, got one up the garage somewhere, will get some pics

sorry for the hijack robert, nice mirrors, same as me and i get an mot, did you go for convex lenses? as the flat ones are pretty rubbish to see out of ime

No problems Lee, Im picking up tips all the time from everyone - so quite glad of it really!

No flat ones mate (wish the were convex as i cant really see out of them)

But on the plus it wont be doing many road sections so wont need them.

Exhaust is sold SBD manifold with 2 2/12 twin box system, going onto my mates Tigra with Sadev sequential box (bastard i hate him)

Im going to save up for a Sadev box with the bit i made off the Corsa, plus mate with Tigra has the pain of fitting and any problems should be sorted by the time i get mine and copy his box mounts

I think, I agree with rallycorsa. It will be great to see your car on the stage. (By the way the good looking side mirrors don't last so long, it is all about a little tree in a forrest stage... I am just joking mate.)

    Best wishes.

Thanks Lee, pictures would be great.
