Re: Turbo Gavs Nova turbo rebuild thread!

Firstly emptied all the **** and boxes out of the car (loads) tidied all the wiring out of the way for now...thats a headache for another day but all the lighting and car looms are back in.
Washed half the inside to see if it was still nice LOL

Got the seats and harnesses back in so could have a look at where things are going to end up. battery is going behind my seat and power steering pump in passenger footwell as no where else for it to go once everything is in place. Also got the steering column mounted back up and made the necessary adjustments to make the Nova and Tigra parts work together its not that exact msl:

Had to have a really good think with Jongirl as to where all the pipes are going to go but i think we have sorted it Whole A4 page of bits to order...nice

Pumps and swirl pot are mounted as is the dry sump tank and most of the fuel system apart from 2 fittings and fuel pressure reg is in.

Nice to see Fenny and Brownie for a little while today more interested in Top gear lol

Car will have most parts finished by end of the week if all goes to plan and il bring the car to Elvington next Sunday. hope you all like. feel like im getting somewhere now 8)

Gav those seats look a bit heavy, not getting any back breakers in there to save weight?
I'm certain that oil tank location is fine, i was thinking the same kinda thing myself but ive read somewhere that the tank should be as close to the pump as possible and that the lower most pipe into the tank should be......at a certain level, cant remember if its supposed to be higher or lower than the pump supply intake, any gen?
Does your tank have a warmer in it?
What are you doing in terms of oil cooling and are you going with an external remote filter?

Seats are very heavy but so comfy!

Cant really have the tank anywhere else as exhaust is behind passenger seat and battery behind drivers

Tank is higher where it is and does not have a warmer but im sure with my driving it will get up to temp ok as its not a huge tank full to warm up, remote filter head in the bay before gallery entry and oil temps will be monitored and a cooler added if needed as Pace seem to think it may be ok now there is no heaksoak in to the oil?

No issues with running the oil tanks in the back, mine will be even further back in the boot which is where all Escort Rally cars have them and I've never heard of a issue.

Re: Turbo Gavs Nova turbo rebuild thread!

    Well behind with my thread!

Hope you all liked the car last weekend...

Few bits done since then, picked up all the exhaust bends from Nortech on the way home last Sunday and tacked the downpipe up. Just waiting for the 1.2 m centre box and 3 " flexi pipe to turn up with the flanges and the system will be done.

Throttle body turned up from the states and its the right one this time msl: , mounted the ECU and cut all the Emerald loom to size and mounted everything and now the loom has gone to be made. Roose hoses turned up

All of the aeroquip lines are now made up and removed for cleaning before final fit, glad that ones done

Cav shifter modded and fitted and I am really pleased how much better it feels a great mod

Started to make the centre console up to house all the new instruments and conceal oil lines, fuel lines, power steering lines and extinguisher lines, not 100% on the shape but it will follow the contour of the front all the way back to the bulkhead and be flocked with the new dash top and front. should look cool I think but never does in the making
First removed all the old gauge holders

Ordered the EGT 4 channel logger screen and probes, oil pressure and temp logger screen and pressure/temp senders. All the Samco, joiners and Mikolor clamps, Varley redtop battery and box, aero catch bonnet pins,Lifeline 4ltr Plumbed in Fire Extinguisher electric type and got my KS3 knock box through which is a very nice piece of kit. Need to order my header tank and get an extra fitting welded on for turbo return
Thats all my VAT return money gone now msl: broke again but think im nearly there apart from electrical bits/switches/relays and isolators which I am about to order in a minute.

Bottom pulley is nearly there.... the first one was too big and fouled the oil gallery inlet. second one cleared oil gallery but has wrong centre bore so thats gone for machining. Barry will put the pictures up when i do the bracket for you.

I hope to get all the plumbing... boost and water done this week and the exhaust made up and start on the nitrous set up I LIKE :love2:

    Updates soon.
