| Re: My 4.0 Litre V8 Calibra build Sounds like my nova
stage 1 = evo5 LET
stage 2 = bored
stage 3 = hopefully about double the power it was
1000bhp in the calibra would be only the same bhp per liter as the nova will be hopefully, lol
Cant see me ever feeling that the performance is worth the expense of doing that though, 500bhp in it would be plenty for what I want to do with it anyway. |

| Re: My 4.0 Litre V8 Calibra build mate has one with a cat back system which loses one box per side, also the proper k+n kit on it with the new cold air feed and having heard a std one and his there is bugger difference in the sound, his is only marginally louder but not by a hell of a lot.
his is auto as well. it's a very quiet engine so you might have to lose 2 boxes a side to get the proper V8 burble from it.

heres my 4.3L V8 AMG..
Im not sure whether im goin to strip this or rebuild it and keep as a show/track car as its only a Cat~C right~off, but i did have the thought of sticking the lump into my blue cav turbo while back and cutting the floorpan for gearbox to fit to make it a rear wheel drive.
Hmmm.
Joby.

| Re: My 4.0 Litre V8 Calibra build PROGRESS TO REPORT, COMPLETE WITH BUILD PICTURES......
Err, of a big muddy hole, rather than a car, LOL
Before I can build the car though, first we need to build the workshop, and thats now well and truely under way
Basically the workshop is on a site that was previously an old log store that was set up on a hill about 5 foot high, the only way we could get the shape without ruining the look of the garden from the outside, was to leave the edge of the bank in place, leave some trees in place, and make an L shape workshop around it, with a 13 foot or so entrance, then it turn 90 degrees, and the back edge is 14 foot wide and 44 feet deep.
Its a joint project between me and Jason (vauxsport username: Tefal)
When its done we plan to build a 4wd v8 corrado for him to do trackdays in, and the rwd V8 calibra for me.
Here's how its looking so far, we chucked some cars in it to give an impression of size.
This is it pictured from down near the entrance:
View from the bottom end:
This is how the cars are likely to sit while we are building them, as it seems to give best use of space to get all round the cars with plenty of space but while still giving us the entrance bit free so that we can use that for ad hoc work on any of our other cars (we've got about 10 projects cars between us, so extra space could be handy, lol)
And this is the obligiatory random mincing shot:
Still a long way to go of course, but at least we have the site fully cleared now.
We've also got the door frame in, which is a pair of railway sleeps sunk into the floor and concreted, which gives us about 7' 6" of height in the door way and the doorway itself is going to be about 11' wide, as we are losing 2' of side along the righthand wall so that we have some storage space for wheels and to fit a wood burner for in the winter. |

Size wise, it kind of feels a bit pokey to me, as my last workshop was approximately 700 times bigger, but TBH that was a bit overkill and im sure this will be fine once its finished and we are settled into it and got the cars and tools and everything to hand |

| Re: My 4.0 Litre V8 Calibra build We used a much bigger one than the one in the pictures for when we were digging it out, this one is just the one we used for bits of tidying up.
This one struggles to take a decent scoop out of the ground as its clay and really hard, the bigger one just munched through it like a hot knife through butter.
Big diggers are cool |

What type of forced induction are you going to use, turbo or blower?
Why is the new workshop going to be L shaped, why not a normal rectangle? |

Its L shaped for the reasons in my post, is what the only way to make it big enough without it being very intrusive onto the look of the garden. |
