| Project Deathtrap: Jack's 1.2 Corsa Everyone that went to Combe, this is your fault.
I decided I needed a car that I cared less about than my Cav, to use as a strip/track/bumper car. Like a sign from above, captain All to the Vaux told me he had a 1.2 Corsa. Like the three wise men (except it was just me and Lou), we travelled to check it out.
It looked awesome.
A plan was hatched to pick it up. This plan involved batteries, dayinsure and Mig's arch-nemesis; Nemesis.
The first stage was to tidy up the garage.
Before. Mountains of crap.
After. Re-arranged mountains of crap.
From Lichfield we ventured North to the wonderful rolling hills of Nottingham to pick up Mig's Tame Racing Driver and some (barely) legal wheels. From there we travelled West to Casa de Allvaux.
The beast. With (barely) legal steel wheels. And +10bhp cone filter. I lead the way back to Lichfield, with The Stig... I mean, Nemesis, behind me. We stopped a couple of times on the way to make sure the wheels were still attached and that it was still running. The engine is so whisper quiet that it's difficult to tell!
A quick stop-off in McDonalds revealed some interesting period decorations.
A MAX POWER interior light. +5bhp.
Handy built-in McDonalds tray.
A cryptic note, perhaps left by Uncle Allvaux to confuse us young whipper-snappers?
Touch-screen CD player. Every time the centre console is banged or the car goes over a bump, the CD player turns off. To get it back on, you need to hit it again. Occasionally, the display turns off, and a light tap turns it back on.
Working headlight adjuster on the light that matters.
Safely back in the garage. Had some trouble reversing it in due to wearing walking boots and Corsas having tiny-weenie pedals!
Current plans:
- 256mm brakes
- 14" steel wheels
- replacement engine (1.4 16v?)
- suspension that actually works
- Interior out

Had an awesome time sorting the Cors of love out though and I'm still star struck by meeting you and Nemesis at the same time. I feel like I've been blessed by the hand of God or something you funking legends! |

| Re: Project Deathtrap: Jack's 1.2 Corsa *I'll ask Bob and Cath if they want their hand written note back. I believe they used to go dogging in it and that was some sort of code for some 'strolling up the Bourneville Boulevard' gen.
Would you like to see some pictures of Bob and Cath? |

| Re: Project Deathtrap: Jack's 1.2 Corsa No point in keeping a miserable 1.2 effort.... About time you bought a proper 'hatch' though Jack.
2.0 8v I say....

Whereas a 1.6 16v is 109bhp with lots of potential in the way of changing the inlet manifold. I can't be arsed messing with mounts either, I just want to lift one out and put a new one in. |

| Re: Project Deathtrap: Jack's 1.2 Corsa I'll keep dibs for something Jack, you never know what might turn up here.Like a load of old knackered trail bikes for example. Or a cycle spanner. Or a cycle spanner and a cordless drill. Or a cycle spanner, a cordless drill and a nice new nut/bolt arrangement. I'd personally go with a SRi 130 engine in the Corsa mucker: they are utterly brilliant engines with loads of torque and are bullet proof. |

Cost is the major consideration, and it doesn't stop with just mounts. I'd need a gearbox and shafts and a clutch...etc.
If I could find a small 16v engine and slip it in, I'd be laughing. |

| Re: Project Deathtrap: Jack's 1.2 Corsa I rekon you could stick an xe in for about 400 if you buy second hand conversion kit and a cheap engine
think you can use 1.6 shafts anyway, clutch and box should come with an engine. |

We'll have to see how it turns out, I might not be able to resist the call of monster power. |
