Re: Project Deathtrap: Jack's 1.2 Corsa

Gearbox and everything off.

Flywheel will be taken for some pikey lightening. Clutch looks fine so I'll be re-using it.

Gearbox got the jetwash treatment.

Front engine mount for reference.

I didn't have my socket set, or the seatbelts would be out!

Rear belts and seats are the next things out.

I was thinking of doing mine this summer., I really didn`t realise corsas carried so much dead weight,,
do you think i`d need a 60mm lowering kit on 14" wheels, what springs/shocks are you gonna use?

Re: Project Deathtrap: Jack's 1.2 Corsa

Nice work, sod flywheel lightening, just fit a flat 1600 8v fly, it weighs about 4kg less than the pot one, and is about a tenner from a scrappy/here/ebay.
Needs a flat clutch cover to go with it too.

Re: Project Deathtrap: Jack's 1.2 Corsa

I think I'm going to need more than 60mm, to be honest.

The rear bench is ****ing heavy, and there's a crap load of plastic that doesn't really weigh a lot individually, but when you break it up and fill six black bags with it, it's pretty heavy!

No idea what springs or shocks I'm going to use yet. Anything cheap to get it out and about!

Re: Project Deathtrap: Jack's 1.2 Corsa

Ive got a flat fly here if you want it.
Its got some hair line cracks in it from where its clutch must have been slipping at one time, ive never used it though.

Its yours if you want it.

Then you just need a flat fly clutch pressure plate(the friction plate is the same as the pot one)

Legend. PM me your number. No doubt I'll see you at a meet soon!

Reckon it'll be alright with the cracks? Is it just lines near the surface?

Re: Project Deathtrap: Jack's 1.2 Corsa

dont think that mount will work - the 16v are diff mount's to the 8v shell's..

8v shell have a nova style mount, and the 16v's the mount goes into the chassis leg... so may have to do some chopping etc to make it work

The block looks fairly similar, so I'm going to see if I can use the 8v mount that I currently have and bolt it up to the 16v block.

No idea if it will work or not.

Excellent gen, and excellent photos.

I'm going to ditch the PAS pump and get a different belt anyway.
