| Re: Project Deathtrap: Jack's 1.2 Corsa Got bored. Walked to the garage. Took one of the door cards off. Broke the ratchet in my screwdriver. Poxy bloody thing. Why can't you buy a torx...etc bit set that comes with just a normal screwdriver to hold the bits? Why does it have to be a poxy ratchet screwdriver?
Door card off. Car away. Me home again. |

I think I'm right in thinking that I would need the key, the sensor ring and the ECU. |

However without having to change your locks you can just swap the transponer chip into your current key iirc !

| Re: Project Deathtrap: Jack's 1.2 Corsa OK then, let's get the engine in and we'll try starting it up and seeing what happens. Doesn't seem much point buying stuff now if it works anyway.
Cheers Al, you sexy beast of a man. How's the XE coming? |

| Re: Project Deathtrap: Jack's 1.2 Corsa Interior stripping done:
- Door cards off
- Headlining down
- Kick panels and trim round the seats is off
To do:
- Rear interior to come out
- Carpet up
- All sound deadening up
Might take a grinder to the doors at some point as there is a crap-load of surplus. Going to make some little brackets to hold the door pin on the passenger side too, but at a bit more of an angle so you can't get to them with a slim-jim...etc. I'll remove the one on the driver's side as it's un-necessary, and the door has already been cracked from being pulled back by thieving types.
Once all the interior is out and down the tip I'll start disconnecting engine bits ready for the lift. Then the bay will be cleaned and tidied up and I'll take stock of the wiring, then get this little 1.6 sneaky thing ready. |

| Re: Project Deathtrap: Jack's 1.2 Corsa Jack, in the interests of research... Why not weigh everything you remove & add to keep tabs on the cars supposed speed status.
it'd make a cool eperiment to use one of the 1/4 mile generators to calculate the times or terminal speeds etc & then see what it really does.
A 'Tom Stickland' type picture of the interior being torched would be good too!

Weighing isn't a bad idea either.
I might have found someone that can make me a cage for nothing too... |

| Re: Project Deathtrap: Jack's 1.2 Corsa Cant believe you thing putting an XE in it would be expensive! Doner cars can be had very cheap, and your left with only an adaptor mount and 22 spline Gsi shafts with Cav 1.6 inner CV's to put on the shopping list!
But you have the engine now anyway Good luck with it, and stop mincing lol

| Re: Project Deathtrap: Jack's 1.2 Corsa All the stuff I've got out is currently in the back of the car! Need to take it down the tip, then can get the back seats, front seats, carpet...etc up.
Don't have much free time, so it's like... walk to garage, roll car out, take something off, throw it in the back, roll car back in, walk home. |
