Re: Project Deathtrap: Jack's 1.2 Corsa

should be a random hose coming out of the drivers wheelwell if it had a charcoal canister if not just join one of the breathers to the unit thingy and plug it in, doesnt really matter much.

Re: Project Deathtrap: Jack's 1.2 Corsa

Fixed my garage door in the pikiest way possible.

LET THERE BE LIGHT!

Finally got round to plugging in all the likliest bits of loomage and got everything working. Need to finish the charging loom and then it's ready at least to turn over on the starter.

Unfortunately weather stopped play. I just sat in the corsa and played about inside for a bit.

Distributer and leads on.

Fuel pump changed to the MPI one. The fumes gave me a headache.

Found a spare battery and put it on charge. This looks like it came from an oil tanker engine! It's massive!

If you saw the outside of the bonnet... you would know why.

Re: Project Deathtrap: Jack's 1.2 Corsa

Been down again this evening. Pratted about, moved some cables around... found my radiator top mounts and slipped them on. That's about it really.

I need to find both terminals on my starter loom and get them on, then we should be all systems go for a quick start up. I've found one terminal... struggling with the other one. Should really have put the charge loom on before we put the engine in!

Come on jack, summer is nearly over

How come the tyres on your cavalier are sooo big? They look like L200 tyres or something

Re: Project Deathtrap: Jack's 1.2 Corsa

I know.

I think it's because the wheels are so small, it makes the tyres look massive! They're the same diameter as standard tyres would be on 14" wheels... it doesn't help that it's on standard springs and shocks either, looks like a tractor.

Yeah, 195/65/14 on the Cav.

Who cares about the bonnet? It's not going to fail an MOT due to stone chips and scratches.

Re: Project Deathtrap: Jack's 1.2 Corsa

check out them tyres

what do you mean by finding the second terminal on the starter? theyre next to each other one live (big) and one trigger (small) i changed a starter in situ on my neighnours corsa and it wasnt too much fun good luck dropping the nuts on your face every five seconds.

Re: Project Deathtrap: Jack's 1.2 Corsa

You love them!

I need to have a good firk around I think. I've found the big one and stuck the loomage on, but I can't find the other connection on the loom or the starter. Like I said, need to have a proper look.

Re: Project Deathtrap: Jack's 1.2 Corsa

Just a messabout photo trying to find the other terminal on the starter. Got the little bugger eventually, so the charging loom is all attached and ready to go.

Found I had a poopy flat tyre, and looks like this is the cause.

Lame! Looks like I'm on the lookout for another SXI alloy.

Found all the studs and nuts for the exhaust manifold and got that properly tightened down.

Radiator in!

Hmmmm... spoilt for choice! Does anyone know where the other pipe from the heater matrix goes? I've got one so far that goes to that solid bit of pipe behind the engine.

Found a top hose in my pile of bits.

Would you Adam and Eve it, my +10bhp filter from the 1.2 slips on a treat.

And finally... some photos for Benn to show why I don't really mind leaning it against the wall.

Re: Project Deathtrap: Jack's 1.2 Corsa

Laaaaame. I want to get it sorted so I can get these poxy old wheels on ebay and make some space in my garage! Might nip down to see the boys in blue today and hang out there for a bit. The edge of the wheel is all dodgy and mis-shapen, like it's had a clout at some point. I might have the tyre off and stick it on again and see if it seals.
