1989 Astra GTE

Just been to pick this up today cost me £550

Only two owners from new and only 48k genuine mileage backed up by MOT's got one bit of rust near the driver’s side back window but other than that its really quite mint.

New roof as well, only down side to the cars it’s a manual roof version.

Not as keen on the convertables but thats a right old bargain!

What plans do you have, just tidy it up?

Same here, never a fan of convertibles, though its refreshing to see one that looks standard, does look mighty fine.

Get the hair dryer out on the grey trim.

Re: 1989 Astra GTE

Did the big strip down on my old GTE cabby today so I could put the later spec black interior in my new one.

Everything went sweet until it came to the centre console turns out the early cabbys have a hidden gear link arm where as the 90’s spec ones had a exposed linkage arm and was quite a bit different.

After much messing around I have now put all the later spec interior in my 89 and it all fits really well and replaces my rainbow pattern interior which was peppered with fag burns.

I think the black interior works really well seeing as everything on the outside of the car is black and white.
While both cars were stripped I had a good look at the hydraulic arms for the roof mechanism and it looks lke quite a simple job to convert a non power hood to power hood.

I have taken some pictures of both the roof mechanisms and will post them up asap along with a update with the new black interior
