| Mk2 Astra Cabby, non power hood conversion Is it possible to convert a non power hood mk2 astra convertible to a power hood, is it a straight swap or is there some modification involved

| Re: Mk2 Astra Cabby, non power hood conversion IIRR the mounts for the hydraulic rams need creating as the non power hood doesn't have them on the body shell. |

| Re: Mk2 Astra Cabby, non power hood conversion From what I remember they were different.
The power hood uses beefier rams than the manual hood.
Have a look in the Vauxhall TIS program, at the section for removing the roof.
It shows the mountings for the power hood. |

| Re: Mk2 Astra Cabby, non power hood conversion what it is i have access to a power hood version which is ready for the scrap yard, i've also got my eye on a non power hood version.
So basicly what your saying is if i reuse all the old power hood stuff, possibly weld in the power hood mounting points then it should be all good. |

| Re: Mk2 Astra Cabby, non power hood conversion If you have access to both, you'll be in a better position to see what's needed and whats not.
At the time I had a cabrio gte, I looked into getting a power hood at one point
After a while of looking at TIS I decided against it, as too much work for not enough gain
(My manual hood was in good condition) |

| Re: Mk2 Astra Cabby, non power hood conversion Power hoods quite a big gain in my eyes especially when you can bypass the handbrake switch so you can put the hood up while in motion. |

| Re: Mk2 Astra Cabby, non power hood conversion Did the big strip down on my old GTE cabby today so I could put the later spec black interior in my new one.
While both cars were stripped I had a good look at the hydraulic arms for the roof mechanism and it looks lke quite a simple job to convert a non power hood to power hood.
I have taken some pictures of both the roof mechanisms and will post them up asap along with a update with the new black interior |
