| Mk3 Astravan Some of you will recognise this from here: http://www.migweb.co.uk/forums/proje...once-unit.html
but last night we went on a little road trip to pick up this: http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...3/P4100001.jpg http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j1...3/P4100002.jpg
Basically, the story goes...
Browsing Ebay sunday afternoon, I decided I wanted a fast bit of fun; something that was taxed, MOT'd, not much money and 'different,' that I could use for a little while as the Nova is off the road being prepped for Coombe.
Found the van, belonging to phunky_monkey on here and won it. Bargain.
Went to get it last night and after a roadside alternator change, we were on the way home.
An interesting drive, and we got home at about 1am after a much amusing episode with some boys in a maxxed hyundai accent who, when the white van went flying past at 'x' mph, believed it was a diesel...
Not quite sure what to do with it yet, although first job is to change the front struts to make it drive properly, but with the towbar, hot favourite is to use it to tow the Nova!! |

| Re: Mk3 Astravan I have one too. Getting rid as its a bit agricultural for my liking.
Definately a fun vehicle though.
"XEpress deliveries" on the side, 15" steels and TD badges on the back for the win. Maybe even a flashing orange beacon
Thats what I was going to do. |

| It is a bit agricultural but it doesnt really matter as Ive got the Mk4 for work; this was bought purely as a toy
Had a result this morning, bagged an essentially 'free' Mk3 GLS hatch in part exchange on another car so there will be a few goodies swapped over
Smaller wheels are definitely going to happen as the tyres are all good on the 17s so they will find their way onto the Mk4 at some point! Love the beacon idea too, I just happen to have one in my garage |

| My free Astra turned up this morning and its not too bad
MOT until end of June and turns out to be a 1.6 16v, happy days!!
Plan is to get it stripped, saving all the tidy bits such as electric windows, foglight bumper, clear indicators, GLS spec seats and doorcards to make the van that little bit more bearable! |

| Mines nowhere near as clean as that!!
I havent touched mine yet, its still parked up, now with a flat tyre!!
The GLS has been scrapped now, only saved the clear indicators and a few bits Elgan wanted. Decided that I really couldnt be bothered getting too involved with this van as Ive got too much on at the moment; just going to sort out the strut issue and get out and enjoy it.
Will get stuck in the next few days and get some updates going on |
