this is my new project. hoping to have it running for pv. won't be painted as funds wont stretch to that. ill be happy if its running and road legal-ish

these are old pics and its coming on well. ill find the lead to download from my phone and start the build thread soon

the cars been off the road for 2 years and iv been promising my mates each year that it will be at pv but never quite made it

problems ill need to sort so far include:
what clutch?
what axle?
what gearbox?
brake servo fouling inlet
what brakes to use
dizzy fouling bulkhead
no swirl pot in tank

anyway.. ill keep you posted

1800 manta gearbox will probably be strong enoguh and is easy and cheap to get hold of relatively speaking, but if funds can stretch there are a lot stronger options (eg a t5)
clutch is going to depend on the gearbox chosen

for the back end id look at more modern stuff, like and mx5 or similar

brakes, again depends on budget, quite a lot of cool 4 pots to be had cheap secondhand, eg fiat coupe brembos

either move dizzy to the front manta style, or chop the bulkhead

use an exteranl swirl pot with a lift pump

iv got a manta 1800 box, chevette hs axle (noisey as hell though) dta management external swirl pot, t34 turbo. looking at fitting corsa servo as it mounts upwards.

thinking of a t5 but is it much bulkier than the manta box? will i have to fit a bigger tunnel for that?

I've seen the servo & m/c mounted close to the headlamp with a link bar to relocate it on a chevette.

i was lokin at doin it like that but iv cut the bulkhead for the corsa one now. should look neater and i can run the lines straight into the car to keep it cleaner under the bonnet

Doctor you need to get this motor sorted mate. I've not been up the gaff for a while & not seen the old girl for a while....

You wil probably need an getrag 265 gearbox, the 1800 box can't handle te power. You will need the clutchplate that belongs to the gearbox. And the rest of the clutch of the C20Let if you are using a Let flywheel. The rear axle of the Kadett is possibly not strong enough. We use one of a Volvo 240 there very very strong but it's a lot of work to fit it under the Kadett

cool project mate, got a kadett c myself with a c20xe fitted..... always fancied changing it for a turbo tho.......
my mates got a kadett aswell with a 2.0 8v turbo fitted ......... thats tail happy on boost !!!!!!!!

getting there rather slowly, as for the brake pipes if you need a flaring tool then i have one

love old scool opels have a manta with a c20let,i used on omega manual box on my let as i have a pedalbox so can still use the hydrolic clutch please dont use 1.8 manta box it will last about 5 miles with a turbo engine any omega manual box will do as all the same 265/285 but dont have a speedo so will have to use a pulse fed speedo like on a stack dash or something like that standard turbo clutch fits gearbox splines so no probs their anyway darcey great car gets the from me mate.
