| mk 1 nova overhaul including XE (going concourse on this one) right well i used to own a couple of mk3 astras and then a nice calibra redtop but then i was silly and got banned for 3 years for drink driving.
oh well anyways as ive now got plenty of time and wont be spending money on motoring im investing in a new prodject but im going to be doing the works!!
anyways the car is coming next friday ita a D reg mk 1 nova in white but has some accident dammage front end but not too bad
heres some pix of it now
and a couple before the accident
soooo as u can see ive got a bit too do but 3 yrs of it being off the road is plenty for what i have in mind
whats too come,
well im going for a full gsi rep look as i love the look of them so ill need to give it a mk2 canversion,
rest of the gsi kit,
C20XE conversion, (rebuild opertunities due to long period of time i have,
lots of parts replaced with brand new to get it as close to concourse condition,
uprated brakes,
uprated suspension,
nice set of speedlines,
full silk violet respray inside and out,
full mint condition interia (poss gsi)
tints,
new wind screen and rear screen
and im sure there will be a few more choice mods on this long jerny lol.

| Cool project if you have the time.
I've learnt a lot doing mine. My advice is strip the shell to nothing. Have it primered & then dummy build some of the main aspects to ensure things fit or can be pre-fabricated to avoid scratches etc when it is painted.
Gearbox mounts & brake pipes spring to mind.
[edit] You do realise GSi replicas are common as muck & Speedlines even more so?

Anything with the old mk1 headlamps & bumpers is a bit different tbh. Its not groundbreaking but have a look around at the shows & I'd say 95% of Novas are facelifted to mk2 GSi front ends & lamps.
It all looks very 'same-old-same-old'. I have an original GSi but if it werent a GSi it would be converted to mk1 spec. Mk1's look more retro & close to a mk1 Golf anyway, which if everything we are told is true..... is one of the coolest cars on the planet (after anything air cooled) |

| Yes Jack.
I wasnt looking to persuade you into something you didnt intend to do, but I was telling the truth.
I think retro mk1 saloons will be quite popular over the coming years but GSi replicas etc are what most people think Novas are nowadays. |

| I'd love a mk1, just to be a bit different.
Although it would have to have funky GSI skirts too. |

| I think Craig has said most things that came to mind. Especially the idea of dry building everything. My current project will not see a lick of paint until the very end, last job. Lots of dry fitting of everything first.
I think you're better off going GTE than GSi. Don't go speedlines either. If I was going to keep mine I was going to put some 16" azev a's on mine with a slight deep dish on the back with ever slightly wider arches. Feel free to use that idea.
Azev As:-
Because all the novas look the same people have to rely on doing individual touches, subtle ones especially. Doing little things like using a corsa servo and wiper linkage to update things.
Tidy, but factory looking engines bays are popular.
If you're thinking concourse the standards these days are ridiculous! You only have to look at the quality of Dec's Nova Sport project.
The biggest problem I see you having is with a 3 year build you'll be having to change the spec all the time to keep it "current". Ask Craig. When he started his rebuild he was going for a nova dose body kit, TSW venoms and a whale tail. |
