200 BHP Corsa GSi

Well, for starters, my XE blew up in my other Corsa. So I thought I'd post a thread about my new project car.

Idler bolts snapped off and the timing went to hell. Haven't had a look at the damage yet but hoping I got lucky!

So, I have bought a Carbic Blue Corsa GSi with an XE in it as my new project. Plans to keep it standard looking.

Bought this Corsa for £1400. Conversion was done by the kiddie that owned it, and hasn't been done very well by the looks of things! Chassis not strengthened, Exhaust absolutely hanging (he's used Jubilee clips!! haha. Tit.) Power steering not working (and by the looks of it never will!), Brakes shot, ABS Light on, speedo broken, wouldn't idle either. Great fun driving it 200 miles home...

Sorted the brakes & idling out. Needs 2 new wheel cyls on shoes, and the ICV hose was split AND not connected! Planning to get the chassis done this week, or maybe next, and will then start with swapping bits!

Will post photos when I get some, watch this space, hopefully this will turn out to be a good post one day....

Ahhh, that is a good point, well made!

Had my last engine rollered at 207 BHP with the following mods:

QED Q42H Cams + QED Verniers
Courtenay group N Chip
SBD 4 Branch + 2.5" side exit zorst
Powercap + Courtenay throttle body
Blue injectors + decent plugs.
Gas flowed head.
Lightened flywheel + F16 CR box

Planning to swap most of this over and see what I've got - maybe R1 Carbs as well...

Thought about a LET, but they are still strong money. I've gone one Corsa to sort out, and another one to fix, so a grand on an engine plus fitting, intercooler piping etc etc wasn't really on the cards!!

Well, an update!

Have sorted most of the wrongs of this car out now, drives in a straight line with no knocking!! Yay! Have just been and bought all new anti roll bar bushes and brackets to fit.

Fitted bluw injectors last night and my Courtenay Group N ECU - much more fun to drive!!

Another update. Basically, this car has been a royal pain in the arse. Wiring all over the shop (it is REALLY bad - or was, its getting there), its had to have a new bottom arm, ball joints x 2, track rod ends x 2, front shock absorbers x 2. New leads, pluds, cap, the list goes on and on...

BUT, its half about now. Fitted my QED Q42H cams to it this weekend, and have plans to fit my SBD manifold next weekekd. The exhaust is dire, I will put a pic up when I can get a good one of it, its blowing like crazy, so thats got to go!

Cams are being set up this week and I'll get them to RR it whilst its there to get an idea of power as it is now. Been driving it a bit now, and it will do 105MPH in 3rd, so thats not bad (F16 WR box).

Given the body work a bit of love (and a clean) - and sorted the gash state of the engine bay out (see pics below). Looks quite nice now, bit of carabic blue and we're cooking! . The alarm works too now (it didn't when I bought it - along with no central locking) thanks to Mr Toad...

Long way to go, but getting there....
